Jersey competition questions - Voting closes October 21?

Submitted by MGately on Thu, 10/10/2013 - 10:27am

One of the three finalists appears to be an old NYCC jersey design, from 1996: http://nycc.org/about-us/nycc-jersey-archives

If that was the club jersey then, might members be permitted to vote for other "retro" jerseys, or "no new jersey design"?

If other designs submitted were "fabulous" - one that I saw was - why is it true that "only three could be chosen for the entire club to vote on"?

Finally, what is the deadline for voting?

Thanks.

Careful if you're riding up River Road / Henry Hudson Drive

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Thu, 10/10/2013 - 8:10am

Stay away today:

"Henry Hudson Drive CLOSED from Alpine Hill to Dyckman Hill for down trees." via @ParkwayPolice on Twitter

(thing I just learned: "Dyckman Hill" is the road we can't ride on bicycles at Englewood Cliffs)

As for the upcoming weekend, check this account on Twitter for updates. And it pays to be careful in general & keep your speed moderated enough to stop in time around a blind corner, for holes/branches/obstructions/etc.

A sweet recollection of youth

From the obituary of NY Giants-Dodgers-Braves-Cubs outfielder Andy Pafko:

Pafko was astounded to learn that one of his 1952 Topps trading cards had sold for $83,870 at an auction in Washington. The card, found by a collector in an unopened pack for which he paid $1,000, according to Sports Collectors Digest, was in mint condition.

Cue Sheet Holder . . .

Submitted by PStorey on Tue, 10/08/2013 - 5:06pm

Does anyone know (I mean know) of a bike shop that sells those little cue sheet clamp-on-a-velcro-strap thingies.  In the past, I've gotten new ones at the SIG orientation, but that's a bit far off. My last one blew away crossing 9W and Palisade at the end of ENY, and I wasn't really in the mood to go back for it.

Thanks in advance,

Peter Storey

Submitted by EWeiss on Mon, 10/07/2013 - 11:33pm

Due to an understandable emergency, we had a last minute cancelation from one of our wonderful front greeting table volunteers for tomorrow's meeting. Therefore, I need a "good hearted" volunteer to help me out at the perverbial last minute to help out at the front greeting table. You would need to be at Annie Moore's Restaurant and Pub, 50 E. 43rd St. (bet. Mad. & Vand. Aves.) at 5:30 - 5:45 PM. Ths is a really easy job. Please contact me ASAP at [email protected]. Thanks very much, Eden J. Weiss VP of Programs
