Day After 70 miles = Confusion and Nausea. Am I undereating ?

Submitted by nicku33 on Mon, 03/31/2014 - 3:39pm

At the end of last year I was doing centuries with maybe only some soreness the next day. However, this year, I seem to be suffering, metabolically, starting 6 hours after the ride and lasting 24 hours.

 - General confusion and brain fog
 - headache
 - pretty severe fatigue, such that I'm on the couch
 - inability to sleep do to writhing, crawling feeling inside, like my cells were reconfiguring
 - alternating sweats and chills

Bicycle Adventures New Mexico Trip -- $750 off

Submitted by DebG on Mon, 03/31/2014 - 11:21am

Bicycle Adventures has a great promotion right now where they give 50% off to a returning customer who brings a friend who has never traveled with them before.

I've been on several Bicycle Adventures trips, and I'm heading back out with them yet again.  This time I'm off to New Mexico (including the Turquoise Trail and the Enchanted Circle) the first week in June.  If you have never traveled with BA and join me on this trip, I'll kick back half of my savings to you.  That works out to about $750 off each of our trips.

Details of the trip are at:

9W video from yesterday

We don't have a video section on the website, so I thought I'd post it here:

(this was from a new helmet cam I was fiddling with. YouTube offered automatic stabilization, and that helped)

End-of-the-month Red Light Ticket Sale on Riverside Drive; EVERYTHING! MUST! GO!

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Sat, 03/29/2014 - 6:16pm

Predictably, on the 29th of the month, when there are just two days to fill up those quotas... there were no fewer than SEVEN police cruisers parked near, and observing, traffic lights Riverside Drive this morning around 8:30-9am. Not a lot of motor vehicle traffic at this time. (Note: motor vehicles have killed quite a few children in this district lately. No cyclists have killed a pedestrian in NYC in five years)

In particular, they refused to wave cyclists through clear/empty intersections where no right-of-way issues were in-play.

I know the department's new priorities (with the new administration) will take time to come into effect, but for the time being, many of us should expect to see the old rules in effect.

Accident on 9W

.

Anyone know what happened this morning at 10 am?

We were coming onto 9W from RRoad and there were 8-10 people standing on the NE grass at the intersection. A seated woman was rubbing her leg and did not seem to be in great pain. A black sedan had also stopped (might have been involved).

The police waved us through as the ambulance was just approaching from the south.

btw, the winter/ snowplow beat up the longer/better bikerack at the Alpine police station. It's still usable, but it's pretty mangled on one side.
