To Harlem Line Metro North users returning from Southeast thru Mt Kisco this weekend:
This just in from Metro North:
Con Ed is doing a feeder line cut in --- officially called NYSEG (Croton Falls 446 CKT) --- and in the event we lose power, we will be running diesel service from Southeast to Mt. Kisco. These will not be full size trains – they will have two or three coaches and a diesel locomotive. If we lose power, we will not be able to accommodate the cyclists at Southeast. Your only option will be to bike to Mt. Kisco station where electric service will be operating from.
B16 Tuesday 5:45am Central Park laps canceled
All the weather sites I've checked are showing rain at 6am. I hope to see you Thursday.
All Class Memorial Ride
Hindy Schachter and Christy Guzzetta are co-leading an All Class Club group to participate on the Ghost Ride Sunday, April 19th. We will plan a brief detour from the Ghost Ride to visit the spot in Central Park where our dear friend and long time fellow Club member, Irv Schachter, lost his life in a tragic accident with a bicycle August 3rd, 2014.
update on GWB advocacy
Imagine a region with 10 million residents separated by a mile-wide river. One side is densely urban, the other mostly suburban. Now imagine that the only way to cycle from one side of the river to the other is across a 1930’s-era bridge that crowds bikes and pedestrians together on a single sidewalk.
Unfortunately, this scenario illustrates actual present-day conditions in New York City and North Jersey. The bridge is the George Washington, operated by the Port Authority. If you’ve been on the bridge on a nice weekend, you know first-hand what the congestion and near-chaos are like.
"Contest" post/thread deleted...because I was asked to.
...but I ask the MB overseers to, nevertheless, leave this as it now is.

Johnny Cakes restaurant on Main St (north side--west of Starbucks). Name means cornmeal flatbreads. Breakfast type fare. Recently remodeled. At one time it was Skylark under different management and popular with NYCC members. Outdoor tables coming soon.
RidewithGPS cue sheet generator
This was posted last year, but I thought it was worth a re-post since it is pretty awesome. Just plug in the ridewithgps route # and press the button.
Rockland Lake
Does the New York Cycle Club have route info for Rockland Lake? To and from the lake and also laps around the lake (profile for route)?
Watch out when crossing train tracks!
Apparently these guys have not heard about the recent train/car accidents at RR crossings in the US!
