Shipping Bike

Submitted by RTellerman on Tue, 05/19/2015 - 8:44am

I am shipping my bike to the west coast and wonder if anyone has recommendations for their preferred company.... UPS/FedEx/sports express? How much time to you pad to assure timely delivery and would you recommend the cheaper version that is available. Thanks in advance. Rita

Riding with torn ligament?

Submitted by mezzpezz on Sat, 05/16/2015 - 4:46pm
Anyone here ride with an unoperated torn ligament? Just got diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament, and it's unknown yet if I need surgery. If possible I'd like to avoid surgery, as I need to continue my training for a 7 day ride in November. I'm taking the PT seriously, but curious what to expect once PT is wrapped up and I get back on the bike.

Berks- looking for a bag transport on Monday from Racebrook to NYC

Submitted by RKastrinsky on Sat, 05/16/2015 - 2:29pm

Hi All,

Is there anyone staying at Racebrook in the Berkshires with a car that is driving back to NYC on Monday and has a space for a bag?  I can pick up the bag anywhere in NYC on Monday evening or later that week- whenever works best for you.

Please let me know.

Regards,

Summons to Appear in Court- Palisades Parkway Police

Submitted by augustNYC on Fri, 05/15/2015 - 7:14pm

Have any of you had to appear at the Palisades Parkway court for a biking violation. I am shocked, I don't see how this is in the public good? I could understand a standard ticket but a summons?

Below is what happened.  What is the standard fine? How long does the court proceeding take?

Confusion on South Side for Saturday

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Fri, 05/15/2015 - 1:49pm

I received an alert this morning that the south side path will open on Sunday at 4 a.m., leading me to wonder if it wouldn't be open on Saturday.  I called and found out that the south side WILL BE OPEN Saturday.  If you were confused as well, rest assured!

CORRECTION:All of Hudson Terrace Will Be Closed To Cyclists This Sunday

Submitted by RSchmon on Fri, 05/15/2015 - 12:12pm

Re The New York Gran Fondo this Sunday May 17th, and with apologies, I incorrectly reported in a different thread that a section of Hudson Terrace would be open to cyclists (though not motorists) from the GWB to Strictly Bikes, where the finish line of the NYGF will be--as this section is not on the race course.  I have ridden the NYGF each year and was basing this information on prior years when non-GF cycling access to the finish area was always open.
