CORRECTION:All of Hudson Terrace Will Be Closed To Cyclists This Sunday

Submitted by RSchmon on Fri, 05/15/2015 - 1:12pm

Re The New York Gran Fondo this Sunday May 17th, and with apologies, I incorrectly reported in a different thread that a section of Hudson Terrace would be open to cyclists (though not motorists) from the GWB to Strictly Bikes, where the finish line of the NYGF will be--as this section is not on the race course.  I have ridden the NYGF each year and was basing this information on prior years when non-GF cycling access to the finish area was always open.

Saturday's Nyack ride moved to Sunday

Submitted by GRoss on Thu, 05/14/2015 - 8:14am

I just revised our Saturday ride to move it to Sunday. The weather forecast for Saturday is 60% chance of rain and Sunday appears to be clear. Look for the listing to reappear once it is approved.

new TZB planned Nyack bike path end has been changed

Submitted by JJacobson on Wed, 05/13/2015 - 4:01pm

The plan is now to end it a bit inland  at Thruway Interchange 10.  I am not sure how cyclists will get to Rockland destinations from there.  There was heavy local opposition to the original planned terminus at Cornelison Av & S. Broadway in a residential neighborhood.

New to the group

Submitted by Kate Durant on Wed, 05/13/2015 - 3:25pm

Hello,

I am new to the group. Are tri bikes allowed on any rides? If I don't ride in aero is this allowed?

Thanks,

Kate

Ride & Row -- Returning in 2015!

Submitted by ckulesh on Wed, 05/13/2015 - 2:36pm

Ride & Row is coming back for 2015! After taking a break in 2014, we are reviving this joint event with Sagamore Rowing in Oyster Bay.

Details are being finalized, but look for an A and a B ride listing, for a total of 24 riders.

We are currently planning for Saturday, July 25th.

Mark your calendars for this whole-day event:
25-ish mile ride Queens to Oyster Bay
Learn to row on rowing machines
Learn to carry the equipment
Practice (and maybe race) in racing shells on Oyster Bay
Put everything away
Refuel with Italian Ices for the ride home
Ride home Oyster Bay to Queens.

riding sunday and gran fondo

Submitted by ktboova on Wed, 05/13/2015 - 9:05am

Wondering if anyone has ever ridden the gran fondo course but not actually been part of the race on that day ... training for an ironman and have to do a 100mile ride sunday but was not planning on doing the gran fondo... is it possible to ride on the course even though the roads are "closed to traffic" ? Any thoughts appreciated.
