Moratorium on the Hudson line Oct 2-Nov 15

Submitted by NWeissman on Mon, 08/10/2015 - 8:57pm

People,

For the last not-quite-two-weeks, there's been some kind of reconstruction project on the greenway between the Boat Basin and Riverside Park South. Thus far it's applied a new surface to the westernmost 1/3rd of the path. As of this weekend, the project had gone as far southward as the path that comes down from the bike/ped underpass near 72nd. So the closures hadn't been too disruptive, because there was always a way around further up in the park, further east of the river.

Testimonial for Tenafly Bike Workshop

Submitted by JFinder on Mon, 08/10/2015 - 7:52am

Yesterday on the way back to the city I broke a spoke. We got to Tenafly 5 minutes before their closing time, and they kept the store open for an extra 25 minutes to repair my wheel. They were friendly and helpful about the whole thing.

PS. Right now they're running a sale on 2015 road bikes. 25-30 percent off.

Marilyn and I are riding to Manhattan Beach for lunch tomorrow (Sunday.) Friends can meet up at Eleanor Roosevelt statue for a prompt 9:00am departure.

Easy, slower-paced city ride.  Be sure to let us know if you’re coming.

Can anyone tell me if all or part of the Rockaway LI Boardwalk would be good for/legal for cycling Saturday, mid-day, in August?

Hey Folks,

Someone marginally famous once said "if you're not moving forward then you're moving backwards." Our website has been slowly evolving over the last few years but the time for a larger step forward appears to be in the not-to-distant horizon. The expected benefits include:

  • Fresh & Modern Look & Feel
  • Improved User Experience
  • Improved Mobile Experience (accessing our side from you Smart Phone)
  • Improved Photo Library
  • Improved Maintainability (you may not care but we do!)

New Bike Fit

Submitted by SYoung on Tue, 08/04/2015 - 10:00pm

I went to pick up my new bike -but having a bit of an issue with fit - When I took the bike for test run - I felt the handlebars were too far away and I was stretching my back/arms. But the bike salesperson felt that when we changed the stem to a smaller size i was scrunching my upper back - and actually took a picture to show me -- It does appear i'm pulling more from my upper back than my core/lower bacck - but this is the way I've been riding for years --

Do I have the bike fit to my riding style or to one that might improve my riding and back?
