The C SIG Classification is on today at 10:30

Submitted by PHofherr on Sun, 03/19/2017 - 7:15am

We are holding the C-SIG Classification Ride today as planned.  Please arrive at 10:30.  It will be quite chilly, so dress in layers, wear warm gloves, use toe warmers in your shoes or booties over them, and if you have one, wear a balaclava to cover your head, neck & face.  See the clothing chart for more on this: https://nycc.org/sites/default/files/Clothing%20and%20Accessories.pdf.

Try in so far as possible to arrive by subway to avoid cycling on city streets.  We know the park drive is clear and rideable, but city streets are in various states and some may be hazardous for riding.

B SIG UPDATE -- SCHEDULE CHANGE

Submitted by FLeffel on Sat, 03/18/2017 - 9:00pm

Due to messy road conditions and problems with the bike path on the GWB, we are revising our plans for tomorrow.

We will meet at the Boathouse in Central Park (roughly 74th Street on the Central Park drive) at 10:30 AM. We will have an extended class, and then the individual groups will ride laps together. We understand that the Park Drive is clear and rideable. On the other hand, we also understand that many of the city streets are still problematic. Therefore, if you don't feel comfortable riding, or if you find the streets near you unsafe, that's fine. If you can still join us for the class, that would be great and probably beneficial.

Does Anybody Know the Condition of the Central Park Drive Now?

Submitted by JOlson on Sat, 03/18/2017 - 2:55pm

Does anyone know if the Central Park Drive is rideable at this point (Saturday afternoon, 18 March)?

Ice? or well cleared?

Experiencing a high degree of cabin fever, but I don't want to kill myself trying to do a circuit or two of the Park, either!

Thanks, Jim

Hi everyone. Please write to the Port Authority of NY and NJ asking why the bike path hasn't reopened. Yesterday was in the 40s so any residual ice should have melted. And tomorrow should be a beautiful day and I'm sure many of us would like to ride.

Postponed until Sunday.

Due to the wet and cold weather conditions predicted for Saturday, we are

postponing the C SIG Classification ride until Sunday, March 19 at 10:30 at the

same location. Please note the new start time.

If we have to postpone Sunday's ride as well, we will notify you as soon as

we can determine the conditions in the Park which might not be possible until

early Sunday morning. If we can make the call earlier we will let you know.

We realize this might be inconvenient for some, but we want to err on the

side of safety and comfort however, we want to try to get the Classification

ride in.

We suggest you take public transportation or drive to the start rather than

cycling trips
