The Times is a trove of articles of interest to cyclists today whose interests are a bit wider than the road in front of you.

GW path closed

Submitted by CWaaser on Tue, 10/24/2017 - 7:52am

Interesting that the GWB path (one assumes the north path) is "closed due to adverse weather."  They don't usually close it for rain, and it's not cold enough to be icey, so I assume it's wind. But the wind speed is less than 20 mph, and I don't recall them closing it for that in the past. Perhaps there's more lightening up there than I'm seeing midtown (none here).

Submitted by bergbrains on Mon, 10/23/2017 - 10:19am

My sister represents twin artists, who would like to do a showing of their work in NYC. We need a venue that can support showing 10-20 paintings.  This would be during the week of

Anybody have any ideas?

Here's the artists' web site.

Thanks for any help in making this happen.

Statistical oddity of the names of our incoming board members

Submitted by RRosenthal on Sat, 10/21/2017 - 2:56am

26 letters in the alphabet.

14 members of the board.

4 of their last names start with the same letter.

That's 26%.

_____________

As it happens, the name of the candidate who withdrew also started with that same letter.

According to NY Post Oct 20 piece, Hearst who purchased Rodale Publishing, may sell  it & Runner's World

Riding from the Boathouse to Tour de Bronx start anyone?

Submitted by April on Fri, 10/20/2017 - 7:47am

I’m registered to do the 42 mile version of TdB. I’ll be riding up from near Centeal Park ( Columbus Circle or the Boathouse).

Anyone else going up to the TdB and want to ride up together?

Probably leaving around 8:45-9’ish...
