3-hour method for lubing a new chain

Submitted by David Regen on Thu, 10/05/2023 - 1:57pm

The latest issue of Bicycling just arrived and there's an article about chain lube that's, well, about as interesting as an article on chain lube will ever get. The main point of the article is that dipping your chain in wax is a much better method of protecting you chain; mind you, it's necessary to take of the lube that came with the new chain, which is only there to protect it from rusting while it sits on a shelf at a dealership.

20 x 1 3/8 tires

Submitted by HBorgeson on Wed, 10/04/2023 - 6:24pm

My Bike Friday came with Conti Contact tires many years ago. They are getting worn out, so I'm in the market for new tires and not finding much in the right size, which is 20" x 1 3/8. The Contacts have done right by me; I would buy the same thing again if I could. Any recs for products and what size to switch to?

Riding partner for B-16 Fall Foliage #2 - Minanus

Submitted by mhsimkin on Mon, 10/02/2023 - 4:33pm

Hi.

I am planning to participate on the B-16 Fall Foliage #2 - Mianus this coming Saturday.

However, given the amount of vertical, I will be off the back pretty quick.

I'm looking for other riders that are interested in doing this ride, but a slower pace, around 13 - 14.

There is a waitlist for the ride, however, if you are interested, please sign up and let me know.

I will work with Neile to make sure you are approved as a rider.

Thanks

FedEx shipping

Submitted by EODonnell on Sun, 09/24/2023 - 5:30pm

I ordered some clothing from Canyon.  They shipped by FedEx.  The package never came to my door.  FedEx shared a photo of  the package dropped in my building in the lobby by mailboxes.  I live on the 4th floor.  The package was stolen.  Does FedEx have an obligation to literally deliver it to me...at my door, as opposed to dropping it in the lobby?

Mavic AllRoad Disc - Parts Required

Submitted by GlennT on Sun, 09/24/2023 - 5:11pm

I was wondering if anyone has been able to source Mavic wheel replacement parts. I discovered that the ratchets on my AllRoad Disc rear wheel were rusted together. Strange thing is, the bike was used two weeks ago and then stored inside. Perhaps water got into the freehub

I am specifically looking for part # V2251701 KIT ID360 2 Ratchets + Spring + Grease

This is a rebuild kit.

I tried the Mavic website but since they went out of business (or emerged from going out of business) there is no customer service contact details. There are sites in the UK that reference the part but it seems they are all sold out

If anyone has had experience with Mavic wheels and parts, please reply

Thanks
