There is only one contested position in the current election for the board of directors of the club. That is the A-Rides coordinator. I write to urge you to vote for Michael Diener. I am sure his opponent, Anna Taruschio, is running because she wants to help the club, but I believe Michael is the better choice for the following reasons:

I've been having neck and shoulder pain on long rides with my Specialized Allez Comp, and finally realizing that the cause is likely poor fit.  I'm hoping that some adjustments to the stem or seat position might help.

Can someone recommend a shop that does good work with helping to make these kinds of adjustments?  I'm happy to go anywhere in the city if there is someone good.

Hi, I'm seeking an additional co-leader for the Sun. 11/5/2023 annual ride. It will meet along the 4th Ave. route. The Bay Ridge Dunkin' Donuts from years past, is no longer feasible. Last year, too many cyclists showing up (not NYCC riders) forced the Dinkin' shop to close and barricade their only restroom.

Maybe it depends on the bike type?

Mountain bike - definitely?  Off road, more sharp rocks, hazards...?  Less chance for rescue?  No Uber?  Now the gold standard?

Gravel - probably?  See above.

Road - optional?  Here is what my friend said: "I was not able to inflate the  Vittoria tires I use with my floor pump.  I’m told it’s 50/50 unless you have a compressor.  Once the tire is inflated, it’s pretty easy to remove the valve stem and put in the sealant.  It could take a few days of rotating/inflating until the the tire holds pressure.  A real PIA."

If this message were on discord, it would be hidden under general, or weekend rides, or b rides, or c rides, and most of you would never see it.

Today I read the interesting thread on this MB about chain lubing.

If it had been posted on Discord, without visible subject lines, I wouldn't have been able to see that it was an interesting thread about chain lubing. I wouldn't have seen it at all. I wouldn't be clicking a random category link like "Equipment" just to see if there's anything interesting there.

More generally, after checking ride listings and official notices on the new website, I may never go to Discord at all, unless I know in advance that something important has been posted there. Who has the time?
