ENY Route question
I noticed that the 100 mile route is the same as the 75 mile route, but with an added 25-mile loop added at the north end to go into Harriman.
Is there any reason or discouragement, if we 'think' we want to attempt the 100-miler, to register (get the wristband for) for the 100-miler, but when we get to the turn-off up to Harriman, change our minds and keep to the 75-miler if we don't then think we're up for it?
..just asking
TO ALL ENY 50 MILE MARSHAL VOLUNTEERS - IMPORTANT!
At this point in time, all volunteer marshals riding the 50 mile route should have received an email asking that that they sign up for our scouting rides. If you have not, please contact Alan West at [email protected].
Regardless, please sign up either this Saturday, September 1 or next Saturday, September 8 for our last two ENY 50 Mile Marshal scouting rides. Scouting the route on your own is not an option!! This year’s ENY 50 miler is a new route, so if you have volunteered to marshal and do not sign up shortly to scout either of these two rides, we will remove your name from our marshal volunteer list.
If you feel you cannot marshal this year, please contact Alan as soon as possible.

Travel w/ bike from Queens to Manhattan?
Hi. Newbie here. I’ve been thinking about joining my first C-ride — possibly this one on Sunday
... that start in Manhattan but haven’t worked out the logistics of traveling with my bike from Flushing, Queens to the start in Manhattan via public transportation.
Any tips or pointers? Thanks in advance!
Bike selling advice
I'm trying to sell what is essentially a brand new Bike Friday. Other than the message board here, where I just posted, is there anyplace else I should look to advertise? Because it's a BF, it's not an easy sell, and would probably have a very small audience.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone in Sag, Bridge, East Hampton or Amagansett this week (Aug 27-Sep 3) that wants to ride?
I'm out East (in the Springs part of East Hampton) if anyone is up for a ride. I know the area well and can put together a nice ride in the 25-75 mile range (18-21 avg speed) if there's interest. We would probably start and end somewhere in the East Hampton area. Drop me a line at [email protected] if you're interested.
NJ Grand Fondo ticket available
I have a NJ Grand Fondo ticket available (for Gran Fondo 107 miles route), and won't be able to ride myself. Asking for $100 + $85 transfer fee = $185 (compare to current ticket price of $250+registration fee).
Concerning Reasonable Expectations When Shopping For A New Bike In New York City
After many years of patting myself on the back for managing a 15 mile ride on level ground in perfect weather, I've been amping things up to where I can now ride considerably further. I'm at the point where I suspect that my ancient and very heavy steel road bike might be a hindrance to further efforts (e.g., Bear Mountain). And so, for the first time in over 30 years, I'm shopping for a new bike. I'd like to keep things (well) under $2,000, so I'm open to an aluminum frame and less than state of the art components.
Thursday morning coffee anyone?
This Thursday, August 30, will be my last day of morning laps till March.
I plan to go for coffee after my 4th lap at Le Pain Quotidien in Central Park near Fifth Avenue and 72d Street. It's near the Conservatory Waters and the Alice in Wonderland statue.
I'd love company - it's a lovely spot to relax, enjoy the scenery etc. I hope to see you there.
