Anyone familiar with the Northern VA/DC/MD cycling scene?
I may soon be moving from NYC to Arlington/Alexandria Virginia just outside of DC. One thing that I know I will miss is my now standard weekly ride over the GWB and up 9W to Nyack, with occasional sojurns to Haverstraw and Bear. It's the combination of 9W camaraderie, spectacular Hudson Valley scenery, and cyclist-friendly pit stops along the way (Strictly, the Market, the Spoon etc.) where one can park without having to lock one's bike. And the hills. I've come to love the hills.
Is there anything comparable in the DC area, especially starting out from Arlington or Alexandria? The region looks pretty flat to me. And boring. Hopefully, someone here is familar with the DC cycling scene and can point out how wrong I am.
Sunday's Dumpling Ride to Varenichnaya is canceled
The rain forecast for tomorrow is miserable so we're canceling.
We will be rescheduling to January 6 and we hope you can join us then.
Regards, Linda and Claire

NYCC clubhouse near Central Park. It's free, but it's only for four months.
The NYCC will have a four-month, free use of a clubhouse very near Central Park beginning in late January. It's the apartment of Christy and Jody who will be traveling in Europe for an extened period. Please wash your dishes and clean up after you shower.
Of interest only to those interested in racing: the Sky is falling.
The state of the art of the bike business. Hint: It ain't good. And Rapha lovers, prepare to be surprised.
Free for the asking: NYCC printed club Belletins: '92-'98 90% complete
I don't know why anyone would want them—half from the collection of ex-member Marty Wolf--but if you want to archive NYCC stuff (even though most, if not all of these are online as images), they're yours. Perhaps Membership might have some, granted small, interest in archiving the club rosters from 1992, 1994, and 1995: names, addresses, phone numbers.
I'll keep them until Jan. 2, then trash them.
