GPS Week Number Roll

Submitted by mhsimkin on Fri, 04/05/2019 - 2:40pm

I wasn't aware that we are going to hit something similiar to Y2K tonight.  It is called GPS Week Number Roll.

DCR has a posting about it: https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/your-gps-watch-will-most-likely-continue-to-work-fine-tomorrow-april-6th.html .

If you are using a relative new-ish device, you should be ok.  If you have an older device, the date/time will be off on the device and in the logs/FIT files, etc, BUT navigation will not be affected.

FREE Expert Wheeltruing throughout April--with one slight (humanitarian) catch

Submitted by RRosenthal on Mon, 04/01/2019 - 12:00am

Expert wheeltruing in the East 60s while you wait.

The catch: You must make a contribution of any amount--I won't know what it is; you're on your honor to do it--to Kids Ride Club, a creation of NYCC's Dr. Ed Fishkin, in cooperation with Woodhull Hospital and Recycle-A-Bicycle. KRC takes inner-city children on rides to places of cultural and historical significance (or just neat places), opening them to experiences and teaching them good nutrition, good study habits, good conduct...oh, and good bike riding.

Another requirement: Clean the gunk, grit, and grime off your wheels before bringing them to me.

Recommendations for bike computers?

Submitted by elizmoreau on Sun, 03/31/2019 - 5:16pm

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a very rudimentary bontrager300 that does the speed/cadence/distance job (when the magnets don’t shift themselves out of alignment, which seems to be happening more frequently.)

looking to upgrade to something with some gps on it... but still staying cost-mindful. What do y’all like? (Or is anyone else looking to upgrade from theirs that is  with gps who wants to sell their old one to me??)
