Our own NYCC lifetime member, Carol Waaser, is also a lifetime member of Adventure Cycling. There is a wonderful article about Carol in the May 2019 issue of Adventure Cycling.
If you haven't had the pleasure of doing a ride with Carol yet, I highly recommend it.

Looking for Friendly Local Bike Store in Manhattan
I keep on having to have my Shimano 105 front derailleur adjusted to prevent chain rub. I wish I could do it myself but I only make it worse. Any recommendations for a good and friendly shop/mechanic who could adjust and maybe show me how to do it myself? Anywhere in Manhattan would be great.
NYPD seizes bikes without bells and arrests cyclist for unrelated outstanding warrant
Conrad's Bike Shop has light-weight, small bells. I'm sure other local bike stores do as well.
Richard R. - can't believe you didn't post this.
Is it possible to love Trump and Campy at the same time?
If you love them both, the cost for your love is going up: Trump just announced a 100% tariff increase that applies to EU alloy hubs and "sprockets," i.e. cassettes.
(I'm in the clear: I love neither.)
storm king and mine road
Totally reccomend giving this a ride. storm king is close to cleaned up and not yet open to cars. i rode friday and was treated to deer, foxes and eagles. only caveat is the last 1/10 of a mile coming out the road is being paved but there's enough good section to get through. Mine Road is also open.
Not sure when Storm King officially opens, it should be soon I imagine.

A simple solution for those displeased with the board's operations
A simple solution for those displeased with the board's operations
2 simple steps:
- Step away from the keyboard
- Get involved in actual work to improve the club
The best way to learn about how the board operations, and (more importantly to) have a real voice in shaping it, is to run for a seat, volunteer in some other meaningful way, or do something constructive towards the betterment of the club!
The C SIG is postponing it's ride to Sunday
Due to weather conditions forecast for tomorrow, the C SIG will postpone it's ride to Sunday. You should receive an email to that effect from your group leader but check to see if there's a time change.
We will make the call on Sunday to go or not to go and we will post it here.
You might want to wear a light rain jacket on Sunday just in case.
