2 red light tix = $565
WTF! I got 2 tickets last week on Ft Washington Ave. On Weds @ 6am. At 169th St & 170th St. 1st ticket $190. 2nd $365. Oh, $10 in processing fees. This is ludicrous. I've pleaded Not Guilty. Am waiting to receive a court date. Suggestions? Hire a lawyer?

Rally for Safe Streets May 7 at noon
Transportation Alternatives and Families for Safe streets plan a vigil on Tuesday, May 7 at noon to rally for city council passage of the Vision Zero Design Standards bill that would mandate the city includes safe streets interventions such as protected bike lanes and pedestrian isalnds when it fixes roads. A whole-city approach to safety is far better for cyclists than the street-by-street piecemeal approach used now. It is far more equitable as well as it brings every neighborhood under the safety net. Come join us and enjoy safer rides.
When: Tuesday, May 7, noon to 1 pm.
Where: City Hall, enter at Centre street and Park Row
Why: We need safe streets!

Counterclockwise Perimeter Circuit of Manhattan Island was just revised
Yesterday, I rode the route coincidentally with the "Great Saunter" in progress. As I was riding it in the afternoon and the walk started early in the morning, I was heading into walkers nearing their finish line. Being a Ride Librarian, I wanted to know how the walk dealt with the bi-level nature of the island at 155th St. I asked a walker resting on a bench; "I have no idea." So I reverse engineered their route by spotting walkers ahead and repeating the process till I ran out of walkers. Mind you, we could not use their outline for our route as any number of streets were one way, wrong way, for our route.
