Trek Travel is looking for Bike Tour Guides

Submitted by mhsimkin on Sun, 12/29/2019 - 6:33pm

Sorry for the late posting.  I received an email back in October that Trek Travel is looking for Bike Tour Guides for the 2020 season.  As far as I know, they are still looking for guides. The job description provided is very minimal:

... fun, adventurour and hospitality-centered cyclists to join the Trek Travel team as a Bike Tour Guide in 2020.

I received word a couple of weeks ago, that one of our own members, whom wishes to remain anonymous, has applied and made it to round 4 out of 5.

This type of job is best for someone that has the ability to place-shift their work hours and locations, or potentially a retiree.

Hi:

I would like to create a variation on a ride in the club's library, Carol Waaser's "Northvale Diner", but do not have the appropriate level of the RWGPS. Is someone willing?

Late B17 Listing for Saturday

Submitted by michael on Fri, 12/27/2019 - 3:01pm

I just posted a ride to Piermont for tomorrow, Saturday.

I submitted the ride but I forgot to approve it. These are the stupid things you get do to as the B-rides coordinator. Fortunately that won't be a problem in a few more days. The weather is looking about as good as we could hope for this time of year!

Cuomo Vetos Electric Bike Bill

Submitted by RSchoenbohm on Fri, 12/27/2019 - 12:05pm

This issue has been in discussion on the Facebook page and I'm adding it to the Message Board because I am concerned about proliferation of throttle controlled electric motorcycles (note that I do NOT regard these as any sort of bicycle as I have always understood a bicycle to be human powered). It was noted in the FB discussion that the electric motorcycles are similar to mopeds, and I agree with the analogy.

From the Web regarding NYS moped regulations:

Hadn't heard about the traffic problems earlier this week, and didn't realize there were lanes of traffic closed and the walkway/bikeway were completely closed until further notice. There are updates on the GWB twitter feed

edit: and to clarify, the north side was also closed

Queens ramble 12/15 - Bravo leaders and riders

Submitted by isaacb on Sun, 12/15/2019 - 8:50pm

Bravo Julie and Myles for guiding us through this scenic, if windy ride. Bravo especially to Myles for sticking with me as I was losing strength and falling off the back. Bravo to all the riders who braved today's winds. I was on a Jamaica-bound train from Cedarhurst within 10 minutes of bailing. I hope that the rest of you had a fun ride upstream and on the boat.
