NYCC Resumes limited operations ...

Submitted by nycc-editor on Tue, 04/14/2020 - 5:43pm
Starting Wednesay April 15th, will are going to re-open the ride sign-up system for virtual rides (Zwift, TrainerRoad, Peloton Digital, Rouvy, etc.) and similar on your trainer rides.  We had tried this earlier in the year — before the pandemic — but had few takers.  But things are different now.

To list a virtual ride, just proceed as you normally would, but select "Virtual" from the Ride Type Dropdown list on the form.  This will trigger a notification to the relevant Ride Coordinator, who will confirm that the ride is in fact

Apparently, we're NOT all in this together.

Libby Schaaf, Oakland Mayor, My New Hero

As Spain, France, Italy and other countries disallow cycling for fear of accidents that would stress the hospital system, Libby agreed with the concept, but not the approach, and instead has banned motorists from 74 miles of streets in Oakland (save of emergency vehicles) so cyclists and peds can have safe space to social distance and exercise.  https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/04/10/coronavirus-oakland-banishes-cars-from-74-miles-of-city-streets/

Team INEOS Fights COVID-19

Submitted by edelk on Fri, 04/10/2020 - 8:55am

The pro cycling team just released a genuine “feel good” video on their prime sponsor’s quick action to help protect medical workers in the UK. Ineos is a vertically integrated petroleum producer, which attracted intense negative publicity (dirty fossil fuels) when it took over sponsorship of Team Sky. The company is now producing its own hand sanitizer in high volume exclusively and at no cost for British hospitals. The sanitizer is being delivered by the logistics staff at Team Ineos - very much a “Grand Tour” winner in my eyes.
