Best mask(s) for cycling?
For those of you who are still riding outside, I'm wondering what experiences you're having with face coverings. So far, I've used my neck gaiter (not Buff brand, but similar), and I've ordered a Buff and other kind of mask, and I am beginning to amass an assortment of bandannas and different kinds of masks.
Some of these don't really work for cycling -- for example, I can barely breathe in an N95 dust mask, even when I'm standing still!
What have people used that seems to work?
Limit training rides and fast speeds in Central Park to before 7AM each day.
Fellow Members,
The Central Park Conservancy has alerted us that public use of the Park has notably increased since the weather has turned nice. According, they’ve asked that cyclists strictly limit group-individual training and fast speeds to before 7AM each day.
RIP Alex Bekkerman
It is with great sadness I write of the passing of an old friend, a wonderful club member, and an extraordinarily descent guy, Alex Bekkerman. His life in the club, his persona, his humor, his freewheeling attitude helped shape the NYCC into so much of what is good about it today.
Before there were “FOBO” rides, there was Alex and his two buddies riding laps in the Central Park in the dead of winter. One day, someone saw them out there riding in the freezing snow and exclaimed, “What are those schmos doing out there in this”? Ever since, Alex and his buds were proud to call themselves the "Schmos".
Council votes to open more street width to cyclists during Covid
Hindy Schacter wrote a fine post appended to the cutback in Vision Zero thread and this might have been added to hers but I'm eager you see this—but do read hers.
Going, going, going down, down down: Vision Zero program.
The city will close all outdoor pools for the season, cut its Vision Zero traffic safety program even though pedestrian and cyclist fatalities were on the rise
On the lighter side of "Spacing" news.

Zwift Greater London 8 Virtual Ride Tonight at 6:00 PM
I submitted one yesterday for 6:00 tonight, April 16th....has not been approved yet. I run weekly rides for the Team Red White and Blue Veterans group and am opening it up for NYCC members. It is using the stay together feature, where no one gets dropped. If you want to ride tonight, you have to first follow me on the Zwift companion app - Hudson Hartmann (Team RWB). Then I can send you an invitation for tonight's ride. We are riding London tonight.
It would be helpful if you had (NYCC) after your Zwift user name, as the stay together feature only let's me invite 50 of my closest friends, and I have to scroll through a lot of names. Or send me an e-mail at [email protected]
