Experience with Adventure Cycling?

Submitted by PStorey on Wed, 09/30/2020 - 5:23pm

I'm thinking of going on one of Adventure Cycling's shorter trips this time next year. I've been a member for years, but never gone on one of their tours. Have you toured with them? The one I'm looking at is 10 days, self-contained inn-to-inn (no camping).

River Road cops gone nuts!

PIPC cops gone crazy on River Road!

If you started in Alpine Sunday, you could ride 3/4 of the length of River road without being confronted by a barricade (which you could easily go around). If you started in Ft. Lee, that barricade is the first and only one you encountered.

No Fall Foliage in 2020

Fellow Members,

After discussion, we decided that NYCC should not hold an official Fall Foliage series in 2020 for the following reasons:

He died in 1932 at age 53 and was buried in a pauper's  cemetery.  I recommend the book.

Submitted by NBorden on Fri, 09/25/2020 - 1:50am

I'm thinking about getting a smart training stand..I've never had any kind of bike trainer since

I used the health club bike  – no longer an option.   Any suggestions or advice would be

appreciated. Also, ease of installing and un-installing.

Thank you.

Roof rack theft in NYC?

Submitted by NYC_Cyclist_3810 on Thu, 09/24/2020 - 8:37pm

Has anyone experienced theft of their roof rack in NYC?  Not theft of a bike from a roof rack, but the roof rack itself. Mostly asking about Manhattan, but any experience from the five boroughs would be interesting.

I live on the Upper East (Yorkville) and had Thule Aerobars and pair of Rocky Mounts bike trays for three years before they were stolen in 2019. The racks had lock cores, but the racks are mounted on clamps that are easy to hammer or pry off even when locked.

This Sunday 9/27 Come Represent for Cyclists on the Queensboro Bridge!

Submitted by Steve Vaccaro on Thu, 09/24/2020 - 11:29am

If you can please attend an important demonstration to give the southern roadway of the Queensboro Bridge over to cyclists! (That way the pedestrians can be left to themselves on the northern roadway). The demonstration begins at 10:00 am Sunday morning at Honey Locust Park, East 59th Street between First and Second Avenues.  All the major bike and related organizations are on board and working to turn people out, should be a powerful event.
