Important Reminder

Submitted by CWaaser on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 8:49pm

Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., City Hall, Press Conference.  Yes, it's going to be damp out.  Yes, you have to work.  Yes, you have all kinds of excuses why you can't make it.  BE THERE!  This is important.  Schedule Wednesday's lunch hour from 12:40 - 1:40, bring a sandwich to eat at your desk or on the train.  Be at City Hall at 12:55, you'll be back on the train by 1:25.  Make the sacrifice to show how important pro-cycling legislation is for the City.  (Even if you don't think the "flashing yellow" lights is the right solution, we have to show there is a strong, large cycling contingent in the City that wants pro-cycling legislation.  This is just the first pass, and there will be more oportunity to refine

Hi:

I'll be leading a A-SIG training ride this Thursday, March 24, leaving at 6:15 from Riverside and 120th St.

We'll ride up river road and then paceline back on 9W.

This is the ride that Sharon Shachar usually leads; she's out of town this week so I'm posting.

Tuesday / Thursday 5:45AM A-19 Central Park Rides

Submitted by grogers on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 6:20pm

Tuesday / Thursday early morning Central Park Rides - 5:45am Tavern on the Green - we'll wait for you until 5:50am - then we roll. Tuesday focus on hill repeats. Thursday interval training. Who is in???

See below. Agenda includes "Continued discussion of enforcement of traffic signal regulations with regard to bicyclers in Central Park" and "Update on proposed east-west bike routes in Central Park."

I assume a big turnout is key, and speaking particularly from people who live in the area of CB 7 (Upper West Side - 59th to 110th, CPW to Hudson River) especially useful.

FS: 1989 Nishiki Altron

Submitted by johnkim75 on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 4:41pm

Anyone interested in a "Classic" 1989 Nishiki Altron?  56cm aluminum frame, full Suntour Sprint 9000 components, 12 speed accu-shift, cinelli stem and criterium bars.  Used for half a season in 1990, then brought out last year, tuned up and ridden for about 500 miles.  It's in great condition and I would keep it, but I upgraded and have no room in my apartment .  If interested I can send pics or show the bike.  Drop me a line.

Rocket Ride vs Gimbels

Submitted by Minda on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 3:23pm

I've been invited out on this ride a couple times--what are the differences between this and Gimbels, other than it has two vs. three routes with different starting places?

bike shipping container

I'm looking to buy a bike shipping container. Will be working out of town for 4 months and want to take my bike. Probably too long a period to borrow.

Strawberry Century

Submitted by DHudes on Sun, 03/20/2011 - 6:19pm

June 19th I will have a ride to the Mattituck Strawberry Festival. A note about return: while we will use LIRR, we are NOT using Mattituck station, we will bike to another station that I have arranged with LIRR.

Rider cap: there is no limit. The train limit is usually 10 bikes and riders per train so if we have more people they will take the next train.
