All I can say is WOW

Submitted by JIgnall on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 11:21am

Been out of the cycling mix for a while but trying to get back in shape and riding again.

I'm blown away by the new website, etc... seems like an incredible undertaking.  Congrats to everyone who pulled this off.  I just renewed my membership and it was a completely seemless transaction.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in the Berkshires.

Garmin simultaneous charge-and-use?

Submitted by PatCH on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:45am

Does anyone know how to stop a Garmin (705, in my case) from entering PC mode so that I can simultaneously charge its battery while having the device continue recording? I recently got a hub generator, and am trying to figure out how to extend the Garmin batteries so it doesn't bonk out on the longer rides. Any help would be much appreciated!

Berkshires Weekend - Garmin files - Two "A" rides

Submitted by RRamon on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 10:32am

I used Bike Route Toaster to map the two "A" rides below for the Berkshires Weekend

If you have a Garmin, you can download the files to your device.  Even if you don't, you can see the route on a map.

Lakeville-Lake gpx and tcx files can be downloaded here

Bash-Bish gpx and tcx files can be downloaded here

**Update** (both rides below start and end at the Weathervane)

West Stockbridge gpx and tcx files can be downloaded here

healthy 50-75 year-olds needed for Parkinson's research

A friend of mine from Columbia U. started a lab at CCNY. I don’t fall in that age range yet, but what better population than NYCC to find a few healthy active middle-age volunteers who are willing to contribute to scientific research.

You’ll earn a few bucks and get to spend a couple of hours with some lovely Italian ladies.

The following is forwarded from my friend’s colleague

Dear friends!!!

ticket on Riverside

Submitted by FLoome on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 7:12am

Just got a ticket for going through a red light on Riverside. Pulled over by an unmarked cop car. What a way to start the day.

Just a warning, be careful out there!

Is a Campmor trip worth it for a tent and sleeping bag?

Submitted by DLoayza on Thu, 05/19/2011 - 1:31pm

I'm pretty sure I saw a ride to Campmor posted in the fall, and I also saw the cue sheet to Campmor. I'm looking for a sleeping bag and tent and I'm wondering if the trip is worth it, considering the offerings in manhattan such as REI and Paragon. Mind you, I've never been to any of these stores.

I'm sure I'd enjoy the ride to Campmor whether I bought anything or not.

Thanks!

Danny
