Overflow riders for Saturday B18-22 to Bear Mtn

Submitted by DLoayza on Fri, 11/18/2011 - 2:11pm

This ride is maxxed out due to metro-north rider limit of 8. Some people have expressed interest in tagging along. If this is you, read on.

Since 3 riders are skipping the restaurant at the end (going straight to the train), this allows up to 5 more riders to tag along who will ALSO go straight to the train. If this is of interest to you, post a reply here on this page, specifying that you will be skipping the restaurant. In the morning you will manually sign the rider roster. This is absolutely limited to 5 more riders.

Indoor Winter Cycling

Submitted by talibaba on Fri, 11/18/2011 - 11:42am

Hey All,

I lead an indoor cycling class and I'm working with my manager to create a triathlon/cycling specific class for the winter months.  He's offered a deep discount to club members (something like $10/class) with the caviate that I can guarantee a full class.

The studio is called Crank, and is located in LIC, queens (the first stop into queens off the 7 train).  The class would probably be between 60-75mins in length and geared toward outdoor riding (ie, we won't be doing "jumps" etc. in these classes).

I'd love to get some feedback on whether people would be

1. interested at all

Thanksgiving Weekend Approacheth

Given the widespread club interest in hills, some may find this interesting; the Dirty Dozen day-long climbing race that takes place annually in the Pittsburgh area on Thanksgiving weekends:

Looking to borrow a size 48-50cm road bike

Submitted by MGately on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 11:33pm

A friend visiting from San Francisco is looking for a road bike to borrow for a day or two between 11/20 and 11/25. She needs a size 48-50cm (she's 5' 2.5"). Might anyone be willing to lend theirs, have an extra bike, or know someone who does? She can bring her own pedals and wrench.

She's a very experienced rider and an extremely careful person. In exchange, she's happy to offer the use of her road bike in San Francisco, and help with routes or anything cycling-related in the Bay Area. She could also get you an Amazon gift card or something.

Please send me a message if you can help. Thanks!

Michael

Please sign up for only one ride at a time

Submitted by abrowning on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 10:24pm

It has been noted that several people have been signing up for multiple rides on a given day.   Please, sign up for only one ride at a time.  If you change your mind about a ride, please withdraw from that ride immediately to give someone else the opportunity to join.  Its not fair to either the leaders or to other participants.

thank you

Adrienne, VP of Rides

Personal contact form

Why am I not able to open personal contacts to me via this website? When I follow the link to the site I get "access denied." Yet I have checked what appears to be open settings on my profile.

Is this me, a bug, or a "feature"?

Cyclocross Race

Submitted by DAaron on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 2:17pm

Eisenhower Park located in East Meadow, Long island will host super cyclocross races this Saturday and Sunday.  Spectators are welcome. There was a club ride to the races last year and everyone seemed to enjoy the festivities and atmosphere.

Hey, outer-borough riders--here's a ride

Submitted by arvi on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 1:39pm

There's been some discussion of rides (or the lack thereof) for people in Bk/Queens. Well, I hereby call attention to this Saturday's A19 ride led by George, the undisputed King of Outerborough Ride Listings: http://nycc.org/ride-detail/54337

I'm gonna ride to the start, leaving the Court/Degraw area at ~7:45. If any South Brooklyn people want to ride along, lemme know.

On his 9th attempt, 58-year-old Michael Secrest set a new indoor 100-mile world record on October 15.

Secrest (pictured in a photo by Alan Clift in pursuit of the record) covered the 100 miles (161 km) on the Home Depot Center Velodrome track in 3 hours, 46 minutes, 16 seconds -- at 26.52 mph (42.68 kph).

IMPORTANT: Largely bad news about the case of Max Vickers' killer.

Submitted by RRosenthal on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 7:08am

I've remained silent these past number of months about the Vickers case even as I have been in fairly regular contact with the assistant district attorney prosecuting Priya Nanda, Max's killer. I haven't posted because there was nothing of substance to report: only delays—adjournments, postponements, cancellations, meetings and negotiations that failed to produce an agreement. Now, all the scheduling conferences and evidentiary hearings are over. Finally.
