Bash Bish

Submitted by BMirell on Sat, 12/03/2011 - 5:50pm

After one of the worst winters in Berkshires history, the battered and beaten Bash Bish has been mostly repaved. The worst part was the switch-backs and those were done first. Now it's as smooth as glass and sports freshly painted lane lines. Hitting one of the 4" deep potholes at 5 or so mph was like going over a speed-bump.

Giant Recalls Forks on 2012 Defy and Defy Advanced Models

Submitted by edelk on Fri, 12/02/2011 - 10:13pm
I just got a call from my not-so-LBS (they are in NJ) that the fork on my 2012 Giant Defy Advanced 2 (4 months old) has been recalled. The shop said there are no reports of cracks or fails but Giant feels the need to swap them out across-the-board. There is no ETA on a replacement but I am not supposed to ride it until the replacement has been fitted. As of now, the Giant website does not list this recall. I have no other bike and bought a Cycleops Jetfluid Pro indoor trainer last week. Guess IWBMATTKYT via TheSufferfest is off for the time being. http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/page/578/

Die Hards Week 2: squeezing out the last drops of Autumn sun and color.

Submitted by HWoods on Fri, 12/02/2011 - 5:58pm

Weather.com says 38 degrees and super sunny at 9am tomorrow--it'll be a beautiful day but it is time to break out some, if not all, of the winter gear.

To take advantage of what Fall color is left, we've built a cue that starts with Alpine, then rolls along the Clark Rail Trail to Bradley for a little more climbing in the trees, then spin down into Nyack for a muffin, espresso, or egg sammy. Then we'll peel a layer and lay down a nice brisk run home in the sun on Stateline/9W (perhaps breaking into 2 squads based on relative speeds of the group.)

If you're signed up and want the cue sheet, email me.

See you tomorrow!

Anybody know how River Road is at this time?

Can you take road bikes on it now or is it a hybrid ride?
