B-STS Ride #1 Northvale
Canceled. We hope to see everyone next week!
Does Anybody Know the Condition of the Central Park Drive Now?
Does anyone know if the Central Park Drive is rideable at this point (Saturday afternoon, 18 March)?
Ice? or well cleared?
Experiencing a high degree of cabin fever, but I don't want to kill myself trying to do a circuit or two of the Park, either!
Thanks, Jim
GWB Pedestrian/bike path
Hi everyone. Please write to the Port Authority of NY and NJ asking why the bike path hasn't reopened. Yesterday was in the 40s so any residual ice should have melted. And tomorrow should be a beautiful day and I'm sure many of us would like to ride.
B SIG OFF for Saturday, March 18
Rescheduled for Sunday at playground just north of Grant's Tomb on Riverside Drive (124th Street) Be there at 9:30.
A-STS #3 Cancelled
Out of an abundance of caution, the ride is canceled.
Hope to see everyone next week,
Nick + the A-STS Leaders
B-STS
Postponed until Sunday.
C SIG Classification ride postponed (again) until Sunday, March 19 at 10:30. Please note the new start time!
Due to the wet and cold weather conditions predicted for Saturday, we are
postponing the C SIG Classification ride until Sunday, March 19 at 10:30 at the
same location. Please note the new start time.
If we have to postpone Sunday's ride as well, we will notify you as soon as
we can determine the conditions in the Park which might not be possible until
early Sunday morning. If we can make the call earlier we will let you know.
We realize this might be inconvenient for some, but we want to err on the
side of safety and comfort however, we want to try to get the Classification
ride in.
We suggest you take public transportation or drive to the start rather than
B16 laps in Central Park - Thursday, 3/16 - CANCELED
Sorry but the roads getting to Central Park are a mess with slush, snow, and ice. And the forecast is that it will be 22 degrees at 6am tomorrow. So, I'm canceling.
Adjusting handlebar tilt question
I noticed that when my shop put my bike back together, they didn't line up the mark I had on the handlebar with the stem, so it's tilting further away than I prefer. It's ok for ~20 miles, but not for 40+.
I won't be able to make it to my bike shop before my next ride, and this seems like something I can adjust on my own. My question is: when tightening those four (smallish?) bolts where the handlebar attaches to the stem, does it require anything more than making sure they are evenly tightened? Any special technique you'd recommend to making sure they are tightened evenly?
Sorry if this is a novice question, but thought I'd check with the bike-hive before I start tinkering.
Thanks!
Waiting Lists and Ride registrations
So I received a warning that I may be removed from registration from all rides that I'm registered for, and/or may have club privileges revoked, just because I put myself on a waiting list for a ride that I think I'd prefer to ride instead of the ride I'm registered for (and am not on that waiting list). The rationale expressed in the email is saying that I'm unfairly preventing someone from riding -- which isn't the case (the rides aren't for another couple weeks). I'd understand the warning if I had moved off the waiting list for the 2nd ride to being registered for two rides.
