A cautionary red light tale

Submitted by JTom on Mon, 04/03/2017 - 12:40pm

As the temperature gets warmer and more bicyclists venture out on the road after a long hibernation, this will signal the annual NYPD ticket blitz will soon to follow.  Seems NYPD can/will use Vision Zero policy on bicyclists as well.

My Garmin died this weekend.  Thinking of picking up the Wahoo Elemnt to replace it.

Anyone using it?  It seems like a nice product.

C SIG Rides Postponed to Sunday, April 2

Submitted by PHofherr on Fri, 03/31/2017 - 10:31pm

Hi All,

Even though it might stop raining by our start time, it will be chilly, windy and damp and the road conditions might not be ideal for riding. Therefore we are postponing our C SIG rides to Sunday.

You should be starting at the same time and location as Saturday, but make sure you check for an email from your group leader confirming this. If you don't receive one, contact your group leader.

It will be on the chilly side on Sunday morning, so dress accordingly.

Enjoy your Saturday and we'll see you on Sunday!

Your C SIG team.

Submitted by FLeffel on Fri, 03/31/2017 - 9:08pm

The B SIG ride is ON for Saturday. However, we're pushing the start time back. 16s and 17s will start at 10 AM. 18s will receive notice from their leaders about ther start time. Please get to the start at least 15 minutes early, whatever your group's start time is.

We will continue to monitor and if conditions change for the worse, we will post a change on the MB by 6:30 tomorrow AM.

Thanks for hanging in there.

Bike Rentals and Routes in Denver Colorado

Anyone know a good place to rent a great road bike in Denver?

Also, any recommendations for good 30-80 mile routes in Denver?

Mike Hall

Submitted by blythe.austin on Fri, 03/31/2017 - 12:51pm

Hi all - has anyone heard about any plans to memorialize Mike Hall in New York?  I've reached out to Rapha (which sponsored the Indian Pacific Wheel Race and is a British company) to see if they're planning an event. If they don't, it'd be nice to plan something through NYCC. Maybe a memorial ride or gathering in Central Park.

If you'd like to encourage Rapha to organize something, you can email them at [email protected]

[Bike Boxes / Travel] Bike Box Alan or...

Submitted by tcadoo on Thu, 03/30/2017 - 6:53pm

Looking to purchase a bike box for travel. I have seen good reviews for the Bike Box Alan, and that it compares well to others at 2x the price.

Any thoughts on this case? Recommendations for others?

(And no, I am not interested in a folding or other easy to transport style bike)
