Missing Spinlister - any way to rent a nice bike cheaply?
I have to ship my bike to Iowa for RAGBRAI, but I want to do a (long) ride on Saturday. This would mean picking up late on Friday and returning first thing on Sunday. I guess different places count hours differently - is there any place that would count this as a one day rental?
I used to use Spinlister for this kind of thing. It was useful.
Bike Insurance
I understand that our bikes are covered under our homeowners/renters policy. Has anyone ever filed a claim? If so, what was your experience? Are there special bike policies out there and are they worth it?
Thanks, Bob
My experience on the GWB Sunday
Part 1: Foot and bike traffic is heavy coming the other way and being none too deft a bike handler (and loathing those who think the bridge is a course for racing and asserting one's masculinity by challenging others and weaving, I stay in the lane as I slowly come upon a man slowly jogging and is dead center of the walkway. As I approach...
Me: May I pass you?
Him: Nothing, including movement away from the center.
Me: Passing.
Him: Nothing, including movement to the side.
Me: I'd like to pass.
Him: Nothing at all.
I pass. He's wearing ear phones. He heard music, not me.
Me: That's sure safe.
Him: He looks at me and cares not one whit.
Part 2:
Is anyone an expert in urban archeology / history of the NYC?
Hi,
I'm interested in putting together a ride that combines history and cycling. Send me a message if you are knowledgeable of any aspect of NYC history, that encompasses all the boroughs.
Thanks,
Miranda
