This is just an FYI.  There is spraying going on in the park from sun up until 8am.  The stretch of HHD/RR between Main Street/River Road in Ft Lee/Edgewater until Englewood is closed.

Be aware that they are spraying Roundup Pro.  Which is the case that Monsanto just lost in California last week.

Is anyone familiar with the roads in East Bronx, near Pelham Bay Park?

I want to scout a connection to the bike path from the new Soundview ferry stop at Clason Point.

If you've signed up to be a marshal for Escape New York, this will be the first in a series of rides to familiarize you with the 50 mile route and the "bump" system that we use to station marshals at designated stops along the way. This is a new route so riding the route will be required either with me or Co-Captain, Alan West. This also goes for riding the 25 mile route.  

If you were planning on being a marshal on the 25 mile route and can do the entire 50 mile route on Saturday, you will be able to ride past all the standing marshal spots on the 25 route and you'll get credit for riding the 25 mile route as well. We will also do a separate 25 mile scouting ride later on if necessary.

Check the ride listings for this Saturday's ride.

Rugby Road/East 14th Street between Avenues H and M

Avenue N between East 14th Street and Bedford Ave

Two people in the B16 morning laps group got flats today.  At least one was caused by a carpet tack embedded in his tire (not sure about the other).  Someone else from another morning laps group had the same problem with a carpet tack.

The flats became noticeable on the East Side but we're not sure where the carpet tacks were picked up by the tires.

I've reported it to 311 (Parks Deparment).  

Very annoying....

usually i go straight down 125th and turn to riverside near fairway but this usually invites  a fair amount of traffic. yesterday i experimented , rode south turning west twice on 119th and then later on 110th after heading south on morningside avenue. is there a better way?

This morning, starting at Ross Dock, a crew was out spraying on Henry Hudson Drive (aka River Road). They had a lovely orange sign saying, among other things, no bicycling. There was no notification at the park entrance that the road would be closed ahead. Some cyclists were turning back and I suppose some rode through, though none while I was there. Is there anywhere that notification of sparying is posted or can be gotten? Putting aside arguments regarding safety and a real need to ban cyclist (and runners, and walkers), arguments that I am not qualified to vet, once that sign goes up anyone continuing on is liable to ticketing.

Has anyone cycled up near West Point recently? Are Mine Rd and Storm King Hwy open to cyclists at this point?

Hello collective wisdom! I'm heading up to Lake George and was curious if anyone has cycling routes recommendations for the area. Looking for 50 to 80ish miles routes. I am camping 20mi north of Bolton's landing/6mi south of Ticonderoga and have access to car should good starting locations require a reasonable drive.

Any suggestions on a Manhattan or Brooklyn LBS with excellent shoe fitting staff? I’d like to upgrade from my 6 year old Sidis to the Sidi Shot. I’m focused on getting a really good fit with no hot spots, especially in warm weather and over multi-hour rides. I’d be especially grateful for a referral to a shop that permits exchanges or refunds.
