As the newly elected NYCC VP of Programs, I asked Paul Steely White to speak to our members at the 1st meeting of 2012 due to the paramount importance of cycling advocacy and the current hot battle for safer and more available roads on which to ride in the city and immediate surrounding areas. As avid cyclists, in my opinion, right now it is not enough that we serenely ride the roads and enjoy ourselves on our bikes.

PACTOUR Peru pursuits
Happy new one, folks (I can still say that, right?)
I believe there are quite a few PACTOUR alumni in the club, so if you're one of them or follow RAAM legend Lon Haldeman read on, otherwise, see you at the rest stop!
I'm just back from an assignment in Peru with Lon videoing his many, many charitable projects for schools, orphans and streetkids there. He also sponsors two local women cycling champs who are training for the Olympics. Yes, he's about WAY more than riding the ridge of the rockies on a fixie 100 miles/day without breaking a sweat!

2012 Mileage Log
Is it possible to get the mileage log located in the Rides section updated? I love it's simplicity. Thanks in advance. Rita
2012 SIGs
I've been averaging five e-mails a week for the last couple of weeks asking SIG questions. Yeah, spring is coming...
The February club meeting is dedicated to all things SIG. Since I've been a member, it's been one of the more well attended meetings each and every year. I would suggest marking the 14th on your calendar, it's a fun meeting. It's also Valentine's Day. So, if you have questions pertaining to the A-19 SIG, and an S/O who may require you to be elsewhere on February 14th, come to the meeting this Tuesday, I'll be happy to answer them before the program begins (and maybe after it's over too!). I'll be the rakish gent, near the bar, with a beer in my hand (modesty has NEVER been my strong suit).

Best Time Of The Year To Attempt The Delaware Water Gap Century?
The obvious answer to my question is "When you're fit enough".
Seriously, does anyone have any first hand experience or an opinion of when is the best time of the year to attempt the Delaware Water Gap century?
There's a cue cheet for it in the Club's ride library and I understand that it's a challenging ride. I'm looking to do some different things during the upcoming cycling season and I thought it might be a good ride to put on my 2012 cycling ambitions list.
Cheers!
