Winter returns to find 2 Die Hard options. Ride the Old Aqueduct Trail on mtb, cx or commuter bike or do Jon's special Asphalt edition. For those riding dirty, we'll see you at Grand Central at 8:40 tomorrow. Details on ride pages.
Looking around for a "new" commuter bike
The 30+ plus years of my commuter road bike are showing - the repair needs/attention have become rather frequent.
I'm throwing this post up to see if anybody out there has a commuter-worthy bike they are looking to sell. I'm open to non-road frames as long as the bike fits (I'm a 5'8" person). The bike would be kept inside mostly, but locked up outside during errands, etc.
Feel free to email me directly if you think you might have what I'm looking for: [email protected]
Great long article on stolen bikes
TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour - major changes for 2012
(I wrote a long preface to this that just somehow disappeared with a mis-click in my browser. To sum it up: this event is still not for A-riders, the 5BBT has had serious problems in the past that some people were happy to ignore, and I've been a pessimist about the chance of this ride ever getting fixed. I'm writing because there are changes in 2012 that seem to make a lot of sense.)

Vickers-Nanda: What I'm (not) wearing to court.
In six hours I will board a train in order to be present at the sentencing of Priya Nanda in Mineola. The sentence--pretty much a non-sentence--has already been scripted and what follows is a mere gavotte. I will write a summary report of this entire matter this weekend. It's even uglier than you thought.
(A 5-page letter from Dan Vickers, Max's sole survivor, will be read by the court. In speaking with him last night, he said he didn't want Nanda to go to jail--he's a far, far better man than I--just to accept responsibility. As you'll read in my piece, she's had a hard time doing that on the stand, having to be prodded to do it after being evasive and self-exculpatory. But more of that later.)

SUNDAY 1/15, B/50+, Winter Training & Fun! #3 “Plains of White”
START: Meets 10:00 AM at Barking Dog - 94 Street & Third Avenue
FINISH: 4:00 PM at a subway in the Bronx -- with optional "destination" pizza at Lou & Ernie's
http://www.yelp.com/biz/louie-and-ernies-pizza-bronx-2
LEADERS: Michael Notaro, Fred Harris, Neile Weissman
WHAT: An out and back from the upper East Side towards White Plains, finishing in the North Bronx. Temps wont break out the 20's so we won't go too far north. Some hills to keep warm but the likelihood of frozen runoff means we want to stay off the steeper back roads. One food stop in White Plains. We'll break out into two groups, slower + faster.
SIG A Classic
When does the registration for this year's SIG A Classic? Does anyone know?
