Meet at Grants Tomb 8 AM

Hoping to get in a ride on my day off, but have to get home before noon. So just a quick spin along River Road to Palisades market. A short stop before heading home back along 9W. Would like to keep everyone together in a smooth paceline along 9W both ways. Plan to be back by 11-11:30 am. Good paceline skills, spare tube, pump/CO2 please.

Active.com Article: How to Handle a Bike Accident with a Vehicle

Submitted by eRobertS on Sun, 01/01/2012 - 11:01am

Interesting article here.

Whenever possible its a good idea to learn, at minimum, the vehicles insurance company's name and the tag/plate number while on scene.

In a recent crash I couldn't start the Bodily Injury or Property claim process as soon as I wanted to as it took the NYPD 6 days to release the Police Report.

Interested in racing but do not know how to go about it, I've been there, contact me at [email protected] to see how easy it really is. Century Road Club Association offers skills classes for new racers along with a very exciting race schedule in 2012 for men and women. Don't miss out on what promises to be a great season.

What if I'm doing a SIG? Great do the SIG, learn great skills (I did) and then come race with us after graduation. We go to September.

Carbon wheels for club rides?

Submitted by AArcangel on Fri, 12/30/2011 - 11:50pm

I have been getting the itch to upgrade my wheels. I'm not sure, but I don't think I've seen many carbon wheels on SIG/club rides. Would you recommend against riding on carbon wheels for SIG/club rides and for training? Or do you guys just ride alloy wheels mostly and leave the carbon wheels for races?

I don’t know about you, but I tend to be one of those romantic, nostalgic types around this time of year. I start thinking about wishes I could still fulfill—you know, wishes like winning the Alpe d’Huez stage in the Tour de France, or more realistically in my case, simply winning the lottery!

As I was cruising around the lonely forests on my mountain bike here in Berlin last week, I suddenly remembered something that happened to me during last year’s Tour de France. It’s one of those stories that puts a smile on my face—the kind of smile that starts slowly and wells up from deep inside.

Veloshines Bike Wipes to raffled off at our Jan.10th meeting!

Submitted by EWeiss on Thu, 12/29/2011 - 3:26pm

Wouldn't it be great to throw out those old greasy bike rags? Now you can with Veloshines! These hypoallergenic and 100% biodegradable large moist towelettes make cleaning all surfaces of your bike (and yourself) easier far less messy. Use them and throw them away!  Why not get out of the wind, "tuck in" and have dinner (the Shepherd's Pie is delicious) with us at the January 10th NYCC meeting? You might even win a free package of Veloshines, 20 free packages will be raffled off. If you are joining us for dinner, please let us know at [email protected]. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the meeting!
