Inputting Cycling Route onto Google Maps/Garmin

Submitted by sajoos on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 3:11pm

Hello,

I will be cycling from Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida next summer and need to input the entire cycling route onto Google Maps and/or Garmin and thereafter upload same onto my website. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing or can point me in the right direction to someone who does? If so, please email me at the below address. Many thanks!

Looking for a recommendation for a European Bicycle Vacation Tour company

Submitted by DHauss on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 1:26pm

Looking to go to Europe for a bicycle vacation with A-level cyclists.  If anyone knows of a good tour operator that arranges tours in France or Switzerland or perhaps, Italy and Germany, a recommendation would be greatly appreciated!

'Citizen Cyclist' article in The Atlantic

Article written by Sarah Goodyear:

http://www.theatlanticcities.com/commute/2012/06/new-york-rise-citizen-cyclist/2186/

It's about Bike Share (Citi Bike) and our responsibilities as cyclists following rules of traffic, that we should comply.
PS There's a comment section with one response written by one of our own NYCC brethren.

Ms. Goodyear has written other related articles (e.g. cities, tourists, bike share, women in cycling, etc.) of note: http://www.theatlanticcities.com/authors/sarah-goodyear/

Re-pavement of the climb to police station on River Road has started. It was still open to cyclists this morning but the surface is ripped-up and there was a crew working.

I haven't seen anybody getting tickets in the park for awhile now. Have they eased up, also the new center bike lane is great.

Interesting event.

I am looking for a route to get from Storm King to hwy 293 - that is, climb Storm King (South to North) towards Cornwall and then to get back to Bear Mountain/Seven Lakes Road, I see there is Mountain Road just before the town of Cornwall (after descending Storm King on the North Side) that runs into Reservoir to Bog Meadow to Highway 293 to Highway 6 to Seven Lakes.  Does anyone know this route and the roads?

ALso, off of 9W  I see there is a Mine Road in Fort Montgomery to HWY 293 if we chose to avoid Storm King.  IS anyone familiar with this road?

thanks

Gypsy Donut in Nyack - NYCC 20% Discount on coffee and donuts

Submitted by David Schloss on Tue, 06/05/2012 - 6:19pm

Hey all - I'm the former president of the Rockland Bicycling Club and the owner of Gypsy Donut and Espresso Bar in Nyack.

I wanted to invite all NYCC members to stop by as we're the most pro-cyclist shop in the area and we've got incredibly awesome coffee and espresso  (as well as iced coffee, iced lattes, iced tea, lemondade...) and handmade donuts. We also do fills on water bottles (weekends we put out iced water, but you can always come in for bottle fills inside), have a pump, keep a multi-tool behind the bar and we're going to start leading shop rides soon.

There's a discount of 20% for all NYCC members and your friends. Just come in and say you're with NYCC and it's yours.
