The last Bike Quiz Question - #7: Match the quotation to the speaker

Submitted by RRosenthal on Fri, 05/17/2013 - 11:42pm

The finest line I've ever read about cycling is by French journalist-writer, Philippe Brunel: "We each carry our own Tour de France inside us."

For this, my last Bike Quiz Question--answers to all seven will be published Monday--match the following quotation to the speaker.

1. It suddenly felt like I was pushing a wheelbarrow.

2. I’d forgotten how beautiful it can be riding a bicycle.

3. Ask them if they’re as tired as I am.

4. I am disappointed to finish third. My dream was to finish second behind Coppi.

Did anyone check this out today?  Is it worth stopping in?  Too many fun bike things to do this weekend and too little time!

Bike commute

I'm sure some of you have some more harrowing stories about bike commuting than me. Regardless, I recorded my commute for a few months and got some good footage! http://bit.ly/10VsQnS

Bike Quiz Question #6: This one is easy.

The words "irony" and "ironic" are so often misused. But what is both ironic and ugly about the name sponsor of the Tour of California, now going on, sponsoring a bike race?

Which NYC Store Has Widest Selection of Bike Helmets ?

Submitted by Cyclehead on Thu, 05/16/2013 - 2:34pm

I am in the market for a new helmet and I went to a few of the larger Upper West side bike stores (Toga, Bike Renaissance..) and I was quite disappointed to find that these stores have a very limited selection of helmets (very few models and very limited sizes and colors.) So, I was wondering if anyone can suggest a store or stores in the NYC metro area (though preferably in Manhattan) that have a wider selection of helmets.

Killington Stage Race

Submitted by edeuser on Thu, 05/16/2013 - 12:44pm

I realize this is a long shot, but our team got some wires crossed and is sending 1 more person than we have seats for up to Killington Stage Race.  If you are going up and have room in your car for another body + bike then we would certainly buy you espressos and/or frosty beverages of your choosing.  Let me know by posting here or via email.  Thanks!

I was going to be doing an extra-long ride to work with office friends for bike to work day, but that's sort of fallen apart. Any NYCCers want to come along instead?

Rollout from the New York side of the GWB promptly at 6:50 AM or once everyone whose attendance is expected arrives, whichever is shorter. Reply here or directly to me if interested.

Thanks!
Matt

What was the team?

Answer in two days.

Walkway over the Hudson

I saw one ride posted that uses this bridge, and would love to see more! I know nothing about the surrounding roads, but it sounds like a pretty cool project. The visionary who brought the to fruition, Fred Schaeffer, recently won an award for his work.
