The Answers to All the Bike Quiz Questions (and, no, most of this stuff is not in my head).
Looking for a Ride Up and Room for Berkshires Weekend
I looking to make a late bid to join in the weekend festivities in the Birkshires. If anyone is looking for a roommate and/or someone to drive up with Friday night, please contact me.
Thank you,
Rod C.
Ride to Montauk - B18 - anyone want to ride?
I just finished the B SIG and was wondering if there are any B18 pace riders who want to do the 100 mile ride from Babylon. If possible, I'd prefer to not do the entire century on my own!
NOT a bike quiz question: What is the most cardio-demanding sport?
I don't know that it is the sport most requiring superior cardio-fitness, but to my very great surprise, it's got to be car racing, at least at Indy level. That is, if Indy driver Simon DeSilvestro is right in saying, "(Y)our heart rate is between 160 and 180 for two hours," http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/19/sports/with-simona-de-silvestro.html.
Oh, OK, you want a bike quiz question? What's the difference between a brake cable and a derailleur cable?
C Ride Canceled - Bronx/Armonk/Greenwich/Bronx
The rain gods have spoken. Will attempt to reschedule the original Darien-Fairfield for a future Sunday,
RR to market, back on 9W - CANCELED wet roads/rain
:(
Prospect Park - Sunday
I know theres a big food event going on this weekend.
Is the park still open for riding? Should I not even bother because of the crowds?
The threat of rain is messing with my plans but I need to do some miles badly.
Berkshire Dinner registration to close this Sunday night (tonight!) at Midnight
If you are going to the Berkshires for the annual Memorial Day Weekend rides, don't forget to sign up for the all-class dinner party that will be held on Sunday, 5/26. Don't miss out because registration ends this Sunday night at midnight so I can tell the caterer how many people are attending. The dinner party is going to be a new place this year, Crissey Farms. Dinner includes a cocktail hour (cash bar) with hor d'oeurves, salad, artisan breads, dinner with 3 entree choices including a vegetarian selection, and coffee/tea and dessert. There will be entertainment and dancing by a new DJ.
Ride to Peekskill
I'm riding to Peekskill tomorrow if anyone wants to join me.
I'll take either route 9 (shorter) or 9W and the bear mountain bridge (longer, more dangerous roads and 1000' extra climbing).
I'm only going one way, but there's the option of a pint or two at the Peeksill Brewery before catching the train back to the city?
Let me know if you're interested in joining me.

ROUTE CHANGE -- Social Sunday - R/T Darien to Fairfield, CT
Yesterday's MN derailment may impact Sunday's ride. While beyond our stop, MN may restrict bikes on trains. To be safe, we plan to ride Bronx/Armonk/Greenwich/Bronx instead; about five fewer miles.
Meet 9:20 at 241st St/Wakefield (last stop on the #2 train,) for departure promptly at 9:30 AM. Allow a minimum of one hour from Manhattan to get there. East side #5 connects at 180th St. Bear in mind that trains run less frequently on Sundays.
We're carrying rain jackets, but the showers threat is for after lunch, and by then we should be paralleling MN's Harlem Line, allowing bail-outs should more than a light shower appear. It's a nice ride, but if you decide not to join, please remove your name from the sign up.
