Weather "iffy" for Friday ride from Southeast to Sheffield

Submitted by pffddspc on Thu, 05/23/2013 - 8:00am

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to arrive in the Berkshires with a bike?  So far I am dependent on good weather to be able to get there.  That may not be happening.  If you are driving and have space for a person and a bike, I'd certainly be only to happy to share expenses.

A massage therapist at the end of an organized ride in Sonoma reccomended Cordyceps for better oxygen in your muscles or something. I'm always a sceptic, but curious if anyone has ever heard of this?

The rides are posted for people who want to take a train to/from the Berkshires.  Go to Rides/events, select Upcoming Rides and signup for a space on a train/ride. See you in the Berkshires.

Berkshires Weekend - Taking Train Saturday Morning??

Submitted by RCiardullo on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 5:17pm

As a possible Plan B for the weekend, I am thinking of taking the train up Saturday morning and riding to Sheffield from either the Wassaic or Southeast train station. Is anyone else interested in doing so? I'm willing to ride at anything from a B17 to A20/21 pace. Please email me if interested. ...Roommate still needed too.   -Rod Ciardullo

Memorial Day ride to The Market - update

Submitted by JFinder on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 5:06pm

The ride listing has been slightly revised and now includes the cue sheet.  Please check it out after it's been reapproved and reappears on the ride listings.

Importantly, for anyone who wants to meet up in Manhattan, Karen Ard will be at Eleanor (72nd & Riverside) at 9:30.  You can gather there and ride up to the start point (NJ side of the Bridge at 10:30) together.

One of your leaders (Jim) has been under the weather lately and may not feel like blazing along at 17 as advertised.  Please be kind.

Can anyone illuminate this issue for me, please?

I emailed the Berkshire ride information last night, but it seems that some people on the list did not get it.  So  here is a link to the files:  http://sdrv.ms/13IQArj  Besides that, here is the note that I wrote:

Recycling Bicycling Tires

Submitted by DChu on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 2:15pm

Recently R. Chiu had posted in the NYCC Facebook group inquiring whether there is local recycling of bike tires.  [C. Hartmann, can you let R. know about this post?  Thx]    I had sent a note to the NYC Dept. of Sanitation via their Web site to ask about tire reycling, especially in light of the CitiBike sharing program.

Here's the response from DOS:

Derek,

Your message submitted to the Commissioner of Sanitation was routed to the DSNY Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling for response.

Extensive work is completed.  A temporary connector may be provided to access Rockland Lake.  Cyclists once again may be able to ride from North Broadway (Runcible) to Rockland Lake without going on 9W

I'm not going to be able to go to the Berkshires anymore. If someone is interested in taking my room with three other ladies, please email me for more information! [email protected]
