Anyone cycled the Pacific Coast Highway north of SF ?
I was thinking of renting a road bike in SF, and cycling north for 3 days, stopping at motels. Anyone done this ? Any advice ?Credit card touring, just a big front bag, and seatpost bag, no panniers. Feasable ?

Brooklyn Bike Show this weekend
A good answer to the question: "What bike should I buy?"
The quote of the day comes from builder Brent Steelman
Signups, Leaders, Volunteers
The ride signup/ride leader/volunteer thread has become quite interesting.
I am fond of the notion, in an idealistic way, that there "should" be a moral obligation strongly felt by all members to "give back to the club", but I won't hang my hat on it, because it's a road to frustration and disappointment. It's also a little naive.
Busted my Scott CR1 frame, need advice on transferring components
A minor fall did unlucky major damage to my Scott CR-1 team over the weekend. I am heartbroken.
However I was thinking of getting a frame on eBay and wondering how much flexibility I have in transferring components to other brands of frame ? I was thinking of trying to find a decent steel or aluminium frame, move over the Ritchey head, seat and the 105s and make that a stiff bike for laps. Or should I just try to hunt for another Scott ?
Any advice to someone who wants to learn some mechanics ? What am I getting myself into ?
River Terrace Restaurant in Beacon - Gone for Good
We rode by there today: a sign outside says that someone else (forgot the name) is taking over "soon" but not clear when and what it will be.

Sad News - Cyclist passes away after Alpine Hill collision
http://www.parkwaypolice.org/news-media/news-events/88-injured-cyclist-flown-to-hospital.html
I am guessing that, since we didn't hear about this from other sources yet, it wasn't a prominent club member, but I wonder if a name will be released. Very terrible news.
There's no indication that it was anything but a loss of control by the cyclist, as she ran off the road and suffered a severe injury that required a Medevac.
There was another injury today, this one involving a car hitting a cyclist - quoted from Twitter:
For those on the "Piermont or Nyack" B15 ride today
Firstly it was a great time! Thanks Jerry and Antonia for leading!
Unfortunately my phone died just as I got home, so I lost all the yummy Strava route data. If anyone Strava'd the ride, can you let me know if I could get your Strava handle, follow you and review the route? Still learning, and it really helps! Email me at [email protected] - thanks!
