Message Board

This has been covered in the message board archives, but there's a few-blocks stretch of main street in Sag Harbor where village bylaws ban cycling.

Per http://www.copenhagenize.com/2010/09/bike-riding-illegal-in-sag-harbor-ny.html , for example

I was on a ride yesterday and got informed of this by a uniformed traffic officer a block in. Car traffic was poking along at 10 mph or so, and my wife and I were just taking the lane behind the car in front of us -- I had trouble imagining we were a hazard -- but anyway we stopped.

Experience with Industry Nine wheels?

need to replace my wheels. LBS recommended these over Mavic SLS (both roughly the same price.) Anyone have experience with them?

Amazing as it might seem, the taxi driver lost control of the taxi due to a man on a bike.

Meanwhile, "Mr. Mateo (Fernando Mateo of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers and the cabdrivers’ union) are trying to block a move by the authorities to suspend Mr. Himon’s cab license."

Road Work in Closter

High Street in Closter (from Durie Ave. to Schraalenburgh) will be closed beginning Monday, August 26, "for construction."  Don't know when it will reopen or whether it will remain closed on weekends.

Bike the River Valley

Anyone doing Glen's Bike the River Valley ride this year?

I did it last year, and I think it's a great course. Undecided if I want to do it again this year, though. Having co-riders or lodging roommates (to avoid same-day travel) might tip the scales in favor of going.

Routes recommendations in the Pocono's?

Submitted by edeuser on Fri, 08/23/2013 - 10:23am

Did a search and wasn't able to turn anything up on the site.  But I have to imagine some club members have ridden in the Pocono's and might know some good routes.  I'm going out to Skytop, PA for a wedding this weekend and we're going to try to fit in a few rides around wedding festivities.  Anyone have route suggestions in that area?  Thanks!
