January 28 Update on Westside Greenway path?? (and CP?)
Hi Nycc friends!
I have a lunch today (with my daughter) that I might ride to (on my road bike) from Grants Tomb to Chelsea. I'm ok in terms of warmth, but not sure the greenway would be safely ridable, especially with possible melt yesterday and the deep freeze last night and today. I don't want to slip on ice.
Any hardy commuters out there who can report on whether it's safe to ride the Greenway today? Also would be curious about Central Park, but main focus for me is the Greenway.
Many thanks in advance and happy new year to all!

How to be a road biker video...
This came through in a junk-mail from Chain Reaction Cycle. Was it funny, or true?

Associate Director of the NYC Tour de Cure Position is Open
Hi All,
I’m the current organizer for the NYC Tour de Cure, a charity bike ride to benefit the American Diabetes Association. I recently accepted another position at the Red Cross and will be leaving the Tour shortly, but I wanted to do my due diligence and spread the word about this opening. It’s a demanding but fun role and you get to work with great volunteers, many of whom are NYCC members.
Check out the description below. If you’re interested email me at [email protected].

Ride today -Clearly not my brightest idea
I admit it, I need to find a different winter sport or bite the bullet and join the indoor trainer crew... Against better knowledge I went out today in a bad case of cabin fever. Gorgous sunshine and (for someone almost Scandinavian) balmy temperatures got the better of me. 25 miles later I felt like a pickle and looked like a pillar of salt. My bike sulked all the way back home. I spend 2 hours cleaning and lubricating my bike. Not sure if we're on speaking terms yet - right now I hear him whisper to my roadbike in the hallway. Probably nothing nice.
East River bike path and Fulton Fish Market Development
Below: a link to an article in the Sunday, Jan. 26th New York Times concerning a dispute as to whether the former Fulton Fish market should be changed into a public food market or a hotel complex. Nowhere does the article address the fate of the East River bicycle path adjacent to the now unused fish market building.

Thought i heard it all, water is now the enemy of performance.

Seven Lakes Drive to Bear Mountain
Can anyone confirm that bikes can still use the short segment of the Palisades to connect Seven Lakes Drive from Tiorati Lake Rec Area to access Perkins Memorial Drive/Bear Mountain?
Thanks.
