Size question on the NYCC cycling cap

Submitted by Myles Lewis on Wed, 08/03/2016 - 8:12pm

Thinking of purchasing a NYCC cycling cap off of the site and it seems Champion Systems only sell it as "one size fits all". Most places that sell caps seem to have a choice of S / M or L / XL. Since I wear an XL I am wondering if their cap would fit me. Anyone have any relevant experience with their caps.

Special guests for our All Class Club ride.

We have invited the Major Taylor Iron Riders to be our guests on our All Class Club ride this Sunday.

Their ride calendar is pretty full up with some big events this weekend.  Nevertheless, we may get to ride with several of Major Taylor Iron Riders who are not able to participate on their events.  If so, I know you will welcome our guests and show them the hospitality and friendship that has been at our core since our founding some 80 years ago.

C-Level Century Route Needed

Submitted by CBrown on Tue, 08/02/2016 - 2:55pm

Hi All,

I'm planning to ride a century later this summer/fall, and was wondering whether anyone could recommend a nice route that is more like a "C" level or an easy "B" level.  If this helps, I'm comfortable with climbs like Bradley/Tweed, Waldron/Mountainview to the Water Tower above Nyack, and the various routes up to the Rockland Lake loop.

Also, if anyone is interested in coming along, please let me know.  Always happy for slow and steady company.

Keo Blade and Max Blade pedals

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Mon, 08/01/2016 - 6:50pm

I hope this helps anyone else who may have/have had this issue.  It took me a few weeks of asking lots of people about this problem.  Angel finally had the answer.  You CAN use any Look cleats with this upgraded pedal, but the noise is infuriating.  Only the gray cleats with Teflon (which do not as yet come with rubber grippers) make for a quiet ride.  The cleats with Teflon have white bottom and white top underneath, where the cleat meets  the pedal.  Otherwise, the clicking and chirping sounds may drive one nuts (especially if you don't ride with headphones, as I don't do).

1.            Friends

2.            Bicycle riding

3.            Free lunch

What’s the best part of the All Class Club ride?

Winner gets a free ice cream Thursday evening 8/11 at the Brooklyn Ice Cream factory – caveat being you have to be there to collect.

I’ll surely be there Thursday evening . . . who knows, I might win the quiz

Route Help

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Fri, 07/29/2016 - 12:54pm

You route meisters out there. . . .looking for suggestions for a 45ish - give or take -  mile route from Grant's Tomb to the Goswick Pavilion in Piermont for the All Class Club Ride August 7th.  Want to leave Grant's Tomb at 9:00 AM - get to the Goswick Pavilion by 1:00PM in time to meet all the classes for lunch.  I'll be leading an A19/20 ride.  I want to lead the ride 'cuz i need more points for a jersey. Also, I like to be the ride leader because when I do lead - I don't get dropped.  Unusally.

Got any ideas for routes?

Thanks,

Maybe he should sue for not having bike lessons available while they're at it.

Coffee too hot this morning again.

B19 the new B18?

Submitted by nychef on Tue, 07/26/2016 - 9:32pm

Seeing a lot more B19 rides lately. Seems there is a real interest in faster, longer, hillier B rides.

I guess it really drives home the point that there's no such thing as a C, B, or A route/speed. Just a style and a speed. I'm looking forward to A12s and C20s!
