Vote "Yes" to allow Junior Members in the NYCC

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Mon, 10/30/2017 - 1:06pm

The New York Cycle Club is a warm and welcoming community. Our barrier for entry is all of $30 - the price of a couple of beers. And to lower that "barrier" even more, we created a trial membership for a month for a buck.

We are a welcoming community - welcoming junior members into our midst, allowing juniors to participate, to be a member, to ride with us - I wonder - who derives more joy in that, the Junior member or the parent? That parent, our fellow member, what a gift we are giving to one of our own - to make provisions for their son or daughter to come along on a NYCC ride with Mom and/or Dad. It's just one more reason I am so proud to be a member of the NYCC - we are the best!

Trainerroad v. Zwift v. BKool?

Submitted by peter.waltman@g... on Sun, 10/29/2017 - 6:03pm

With the winter upon us, my wife & I are giving thought to signing up for one of these, and I'm curious what other people think of each of these services. From what we've learned, each has their own strengths, i.e. Trainerroad has by FAR, the most specialized training programs to offer; while Zwift offers an immersive, massive, multi-player gaming environment (that is limited to only 3 regions); while BKool offers a similar immersive environment, it has FAR more regions and routes (including Central Park!), although it's not clear to me how large of a user-base it offers.

Has anyone tried any of these, and can offer their thoughts on why they chose one over the other.

Anybody knows Edward??

Submitted by schinabr on Sat, 10/28/2017 - 9:04am

A car hit me in an accident on 9W near Piermont early October and Edward was a witness. He told me the Police got his contact number but the Police report has no information about him. He was wearing a black jersey Italian national team.

Luckly for me the were no serious medical consequences, just a broken frame.

Thank you in advance!

Bike show in Philadelphia

Ted, below, has corrected my having originally mis-wrtten the date.

I have a light aluminum hybrid bike I've rehabbed partly and would like the rest to get fixed by Piermont (plus it would be great to use up some of my credit from ebay selling). Anyone going thataway in a vehicle, I could hitch along with?  Sunday would work, as who wants to be out in the rain. . or . . when else might work for you?

Very clean bike plus it is a compact, and with wheels off can fit into a trunk.

Appreciate any help!

Best,
Susan

It has been completely repaved between Rockleigh Road and Homan Avenue and is spectacular! Now all we need to do is get them to redo it in Cresskill.

Garmin Write alternative?

Submitted by ty111 on Thu, 10/26/2017 - 9:29pm

I've been using Garmin Write (and Garmin communicator plug-in with Safari) to transfer files from Ridewithgps to my Garmin.

Evidently they are, or have been, phasing this plug in out. Is there a Mac browser it still works with...or do I have to do the download and copy/paste to folder routine?

Garmin Write was so easy

crying

TIA
