Volunteer of the Year - a thank you note
To all of my dear friends in NYCC,
I am very appreciative, humbled and, frankly, thrilled to be voted Volunteer of the Year for 2017. In a club of interesting, intelligent and athletic people, which is made great by all of the volunteers who generously donate their time to make it so, this honor means the world to me. As a very active member since 2002, when I joined NYCC, with my dear wife Valli, this club has given me more than I can ever give to it. Although cycling with like-minded passionate cyclists is so much fun, the life-long friendships that I have made, and will continue to make, is what I most treasure.
Great Party!
Thanks Bob Gilbert and his team for organizing a great party tonight - and congrats to all of the award winners!
Newsletter Subscription - why do we need to provide Age and Gender?
Hi - I just signed up for the newsletter and am really looking forward to it. However - why must we provide Age and Gender when subscribing? What will this information we used for?

NYCC Instagram Kudos
I don't know who is behind the NYCC Instagram account - but wanted to pass on kudos for really doing a great job lately. Frequent posts, great captions, and a really fantastic insight into the life of the club! I'm enjoying following along.
Thank you whoever you are!
Another Local Cyclocross Race - this time within the 5 Boroughs! - Rainey Park Cyclocross - Sun Dec. 10 - Astoria Queens
More Info / Registration Link: https://www.bikereg.com/raineyparkcross
I started racing with the NYCC Racing team this year, and have gotten really hooked on Cyclocross - it is a blast! Races, however, are usually a good distance away - meaning getting up very early and driving out to somewhere in New Jersey, Long Island, Upstate, or Pennsylvania, which is why I am super excited for this event - happening on the water in Astoria this weekend.
ISO JUST ONE TICKET to the Holiday Party!
If you have one and can't go, even last minute, please LMK 'cause I wanna go!
Holiday Party-help needed
ONE PROBLEM. I am currently in rehab for my knee at Upper East Side Rehab at 211 E 79 St. [between 2 & 3 Ave] I need someone to sign me out and sign me back in. That's all there is to it. Once that is done you don't need to carry me, push me or roll me. I am totally self sufficient and will have no problem keeping up with you. We can take the Q train at 72 Street and 2nd Ave to 42 St, 4 stops. I will leave with you anytime you are ready. Thanks Hal
Heads Up On By-Passing the First Set of Stairs on the NY Side of the GWB
While we are relegated to the north sidewalk, and tempting as it is to ride the car ramp of the GWB on the NY side to avoid that first staircase, keep an eye out for police. I am one of the tempted--but fortunately, I glanced behind just as I was about to go for it this morning and saw a police car emerge from some hidden spot as I certainly didn't see it prior. The police car then parked at the very point riders would hop that short wall and stayed there. I took the staircase needless to say, but stopped and had a brief chat with them on the subject, and they made it clear riders will be ticketed if caught.
