If I were at tonight's board meeting, I would ask:

Request from Charlie Komanoff for photo of GWB: NJ-entrance to South Path

Submitted by NWeissman on Mon, 03/05/2018 - 4:36pm

I'm relaying a request from Charlie Komanoff, who's talking to the PA about the placement of the barriers at the NJ entrance to the South Path.

If anyone's going across the GWB, please take a photo of the barriers from both a) the path side and b) the road side.  If you can take measurements of the top and bottom of the barriers, that would be helpful as well.  If you email them to me - nww at mac dot com - I will forward them to Charlie.

Below is a shot from the path side taken in May 2017.

IMPORTANT: South County Trailway and Coyotes

Submitted by mhsimkin on Fri, 03/02/2018 - 9:46am

There have been several incidients of Coyote attacks in Westchester around the Dunwoodie Golf Course.  The South County Trailway runs parallal to the golf course.  The southern border of the course is Yonkers Ave and the Northern is Palmer Road.

The Yonkers police had to put a Coyote down last night after it attacked an officer. There is signficant concern that the Coyotes might be rabid, as the attacks have been occuring during the day light hours. The Coyotes in this area (NYC/Westchester) tend to be nocturnal.

Volunteer Party of 2/27/2018

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Wed, 02/28/2018 - 6:44pm

The New York Cycle Club thanks celebrates our many Volunteers with a party each and every year.  Last night was our Volunteers’ Party – it was the best party ever, attended by the best people in the Club, the people who make the NYCC great!

In attendance were ride leaders, board members, Memorial Day weekend planners, ENY volunteers, SIG Captains, All Class Club ride organizers, the heroes and heroines of the Club, the heartbeat of our great organization.

Unfortunately, I think that work and family obligations will keep me from joining a SIG this year.

While I realize there's no substitute for a SIG, I'm curious to know if there's such a thing as a cram-session, orientation-style event that covers the essentials of NYCC group riding for those of us who'd like that sort of thing — even if only for peace of mind.

I ask because I'd consider myself a B16 or 17 rider who has done informal group rides, but never within whatever formalities or etiquette that a cycling club might have.

If I'm over thinking this and the water's fine, jump right in, that'd also be good feedback to have.
