Women's Introductory race information evening - Thursday 3/15 Bicycle Habitat Soho
As part of the CRCA Women's Development Program p/b Specialized we're hosting an information evening/launch party at Bicycle Habitat Soho this Thursday March 15th 7pm-9pm.
If you're a woman interested or curious about trying racing - come along and meet like-minded women. We will have our coaches on hand to outline the series, discuss opportunities for new racers and answer questions. We will also have representatives from CRCA women's teams on hand (including NYCC members currently racing for Dave Jordan Racing and NYCC's own race team). There will also be snacks and drinks on hand, and Bicycle Habitat staff giving advice and discounts for shopping on the night.

FOCUS IZALCO MAX DISC DURA ACE ROAD
Hi - anyone know much about FOCUS bikes. I am looking at one in size 56cm. Its 2016 closeout with DISC Brakes. I am also told DISC is the way to go. I currently use calipers/rim brakes and am looking to upgrade both my bike and groupset.
Any suggestions on the bike and disv vs calipers welcome. Thanks.
NYCC Outreach Update
Hello,
I would like to offer a quick update regarding NYCC's outreach efforts.
In recent months, NYCC made new efforts to strengthen its outreach to club members, prospective members, and the larger local cycling community.
NYCC's membership growth rate rose sharply in recent months versus the same dates last year. The results of the past five months are as following:
What do we owe our local bike shops in the internet age?
Looking for opinions:
I'm building up a bike. (Yay!) Can source most of the components online for cheaper than a bike store can sell them to me. More than one bike shop has now told me that it is hard for them to compete with the prices I can buy these components for. More than one has also told me that it is not thrilling to them to have customers buy groupsets off the internet rather than getting them through them.
Berkshires Weekend May 25-28, 2018
Hi everybody. The revised, final Berkshires announcement is now up, in the Events calendar (click the drop-down Events button at the top of this page). It's high time to start making your lodging reservations for a weekend of excellent cycling and fun in the Western Massachusetts hill country.
Also, please sign up for the weekend at the bottom of the Berkshires announcement page, so we can keep you in the loop. Every individual who is riding should sign up, so we'll have an accurate head-count and we'll be able to send you bulletins as needed.
Rides will be posted in the Ride Listings as usual. More rides will be appearing weekly, so keep checking back. Sign up in the usual way for the rides you're interested in.
Garmin Route Calculation Error
Occasionally, on my Garmin Edge 1000, when I load a course that I have imported from Ridewithgps, the unit starts loading, gets to 99%, says “route calculation error,” and starts again from 0. Gets to 99%, does it all over again. Endless loop, forcing me to shut down and use Garmin without route.
I have scoured the Garmin and RWGPS forums and found various suggestions, none of which help. The thing that seems to be mentioned frequently is some discrepancy between the maps on the Garmin and the map used to create the route, notably Google.
The last RWGPS route/course I had this issue with was the B16 Westwood route, here:
