Specialized Roubaix Future Shock - Gimmick or real deal? - feedback requested

Submitted by JoelGoron on Sat, 03/24/2018 - 11:58am

I'm looking to replace my main road bike, which is a 2007 Specialized Roubaix Pro. I've been very happy with it, but the wheels are on their last legs and it seems like the right time to replace it. I'd like to upgrade with a great "new" bike for the next however many years of riding. I don't race, I'm a big guy (6'4" and @ 230 lbs) and I like the geometry of the Roubaix- what the industry calls Endurance or Sportive. I'll probably spend $2K-$4K.

Anyone that rides a 2017 or 2018 Roubaix with the Future Shock an CG-R seatpost, I'd like to hear from you about this new technology and the overall ride it produces.

Thanks,

Joel

The C SIG ride is on today

Submitted by PHofherr on Sat, 03/24/2018 - 6:31am

The C SIG will be riding after the Orientation today. Don't forget to wear layers. It will be cold to start but warm up a bit when we leave for the ride. If you can bring two fives or a ten dollar bill for the Orientation today, that would be appreciated.

See you there.

Free ride leader jersey?

Submitted by Carly Smith on Thu, 03/22/2018 - 6:15pm

Hello all,

Long-time lurker; first-time poster.

I was wondering if there's been any update on last year's ride leader jersey promotion. I think the offer was that anyone who led at least 4 rides after graduating a 2017 SIG by a certain deadline was eligible for a free NYCC ride leader jersey. I might have missed it but didn't notice anything on the website about how to follow up on this.

Thanks for any info!

Alan Resnick in/out of hospital

Submitted by SRodetis on Wed, 03/21/2018 - 9:43pm

Sharing some news - - Alan had a planned heart procedure this morning (3/21) to address an unexpected medical development.

He's home and fine so far, of course chafing at the bit about relative inactivity and some athletic restrictions.

Happily, he's been told he can start riding in a week.

If you are in the Hudson area during the week check this out.

My son runs it.

GWB Ramp

Submitted by CWaaser on Mon, 03/19/2018 - 7:47pm

On the GWB ramp, if a cyclist is approaching the hairpin turn going up and another is approaching it going down, who has the right of way?  Is there a standard rule?

Biking in Florence

Submitted by bcohen11 on Mon, 03/19/2018 - 11:27am

I will be traveling in Italy between May & June and am looking for a referral to a tour operator that I can connect with in advance to arrange for some riding in and around Florence.  Not necessarily looking for sightseeing but more for a good half day/full day ride.  Let me know if the webpage is a better source for this referal.  Thanks in advance
