For Sale: Garmin Edge 705 Bundle
I am selling my Garmin Edge 705 unit. I received this unit new from Garmin in June of this year. It has never been dropped and is in like new condition (no scuffs, scrapes, dents, etc.). It comes with the Maps DVD (2009 version) - northeast states already installed, HR monitor, Cadence sensor and original charger that came with it. It has been working fine. It detects HR, Cadence and otherwise records data perfectly all the time. As for navigation, it works most of the time (the times that it does not work, it's probably due to user error, issues with Garmin software generally or bad satellite reception, but not due to any defect in the device due to damage). Anyway, best offer gets it.
EDIT: I just realize that I no longer have the box - must have thrown it out with my move.

No site is better than this site
Seriously, the message board is pityful, the navigation weak, the color palate horrendous. Scrap this puppy. There has to be a turn-key solution available. It may not be as "colorful", but honesty, the colorful portion doesn't work for users.
With the electronic bulletin, the website has become the lowest common denominator for the NYCC bicycle riding club. It is where new and prospective members learn about rides and upcoming events. Functionality is critical. This website lacks functionality and hence fails as a cornerstone asset for the club. Please go back to the old site and/or find another turnkey solution before Spring 2011.

Your face and steed on drastic plastic?
Well, I flipped open the strangely free copy of Bicycling Mag that's suddenly started landing in my mailbox and spotted this credit card http://www.bicycling.com/card
At the risk of sounding like I'm promoting it (certainly am not) and suspending the disdain we have for credit cards - even though we use them every day - it struck me as a really simple but clever customer engagement doodad - having your face and favorite steed on the card! Playing right into the rabid fanaticism some of us have for our bicycles et al. I mean, would you rather that or a generic computer generated corporate logo?
US Congressional elections - bad news for cycling
From the League of American Bicyclists (NYCC is a member):
The bicycling movement lost its biggest champion, Chairman James Oberstar (D-MN) and more than 30 members of the Congressional Bike Caucus in the House. Representatives Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Peter DeFazio (D-OR), other leading bicycling supporters, both retained their seats.
