Participation Needed! Brain Trauma Foundation Concussion Research

Submitted by JKanteratBTF on Thu, 06/02/2011 - 10:50am

Hi Everyone! My name is Jodi Kanter and I am new to NYCC. I am also research associate at the Brain Trauma Foundation affiliated with Weil Cornell Medical Center and am hoping to gain your support for our current study investigating new methods of identifying concussions, and assessing attention and memory deficits caused by mild Traumatic Brain Injuries. In 2009, cycling was the number 1 cause of estimated head injuries treated in United States emergency rooms, with 85,389 casualties. I am reaching out to you in the hopes that you will be willing to participate in this much needed study.

Cue Sheet to City Island?

Submitted by KTaylor on Thu, 06/02/2011 - 9:07am

I've looked in the Ride Library, but can't seem to find a cue sheet to City Island.  If you have one to share (C-level) please let me know.  Thanks!

PS - I don't know how to activate the e-mail link, so if you have one you can send it to ktaylorshop at yahoo

Lost keys - St. Nich/River Road/9W/Spoon

Submitted by PFroke on Thu, 06/02/2011 - 8:46am

Somehow I managed to lose my house keys yesterday along a route from St. Nicholas to the bridge to River Road,  Alpine police station, 9W, Runcible Spoon, and back.

I've called every place I stopped, with no luck.  So on the off chance that someone found them on the road, I'd hugely appreciate an email at my Message Board user name plus yahoo.com and I can describe them ... thanks!

Anthony Weiner says, "When I'm elected Mayor of New York, I'll rip up all the bike lanes." His strategy for getting elected? Tweeting pix of his panties.

Here's the pic in question. Caution, suggestive shadows and career suicide clearly visible.

Go Anthony.

Ever watchful for you who don't devour the NY Times for news of interest (or boredom) to you:

It's a fine, old shop (1891, claimed to be the oldest bike shop in America) with a terrific reputation...or, at least, it was when last I knew of it.

Anyone can help with mapping a ride to Lake Mohawk, NJ

Submitted by Sir Roger on Wed, 06/01/2011 - 5:49pm

I am contemplating a ride up to a buddies house in Andover, near Lake Mohawk and have been messing around with MapMyRide. Does anyone have any proven routes that go that way. Bearing in mind how hot it is and this a solo ride.. Not really looking for a lot of hill climbing.

Thanks for any ideas

Berkshires Pictures

Submitted by RCowin on Wed, 06/01/2011 - 3:07pm

I'm very late with my thanks to all who organized the amazing Berkshires weekend trip this year! Special kudos goes out to whoever arranged for the great weather!

I didn't take many pictures this year - trying to lighten my load on the climbs - but here's what I have:
