Signed up for Fall Foliage Ride but can't make it?
For the most part, the upcoming Fall Foliage rides are fully booked. And since we have arrangements with Metro North for train return to the city, we cannot add on additional riders or groups for this year's rides.
If you have signed up for one of the rides, however, and now realize that you won't be able to make it, please unregister for that particular ride. That way, at least a few more people who have expressed interest might be able to participate.
Many thanks, and enjoy the series!

NYCC 75th Anniversary - Video Interviews
As part of the club's 75th Anniversary Gala this summer, Ellen Jaffe and Christy Guzzetta asked me to join with Carol Waaser in doing video interviews of some long-time club members. A version of the video was shown at the gala itself (though with no audio in the rooms where most people may have seen the pictures rolling by).
New TZ Bridge on Fedl Fast Track: work could start next year
Most proposals include a bike/ped lane. Engineer & NYCC member Peter Matusewitch has been working on the plans.
Paving / road work Bergen and West Nyack
* Woodland Ave south of Johnson is badly torn up. This goes beyond milling for repaving, the road is ripped out perhaps for sewer work or something. Take Floyd north to Van Waggoner to Johnson to Woodland instead.
* Strawtown Road from West Nyack Road to I forget how far, but quite a ways I think to the highway, is milled for repaving. It's rideable northbound since it's uphill but it's not pleasant.
*Booth is closed for road work east of Beech. You won't find out until you have already climbed most of the way then the crest is closed off.
These conditions verified as of this past Sunday (yesterday). Seems to me I recall road work on Woodland for quite some time.
La Vuelta Puerto Rico 2012 (www.vueltapr.com) 3 days, 375 mile cycling the Island of Puerto Rico
For those who may have the opportunity and time to want to do some winter riding, here is a slideshow of previous La Vuelta Puerto Rico pictures of scenic views, camaraderies, and friendships that were developed during some sun, fun and riding! Enjoy!
Broadway repaving completed
Broadway has been beautifully resurfaced from Bennett up to Isham (one block north of 207th). The ruts and lava flows are GONE. North of Isham, it's not bad at all. Enjoy.
We miss the x-country mule. Nuf said. :(
Ok, not enough said. Just wanted to express a sentiment that apparently many folks share, many of whom got off to a fun, safe start to long-distance cycling thanks to Maggie N. She cetainly was a big part of our spring/summer last year. Just wanted to say thanks. J&J
Brewster Eats
If you're passing through Brewster on a ride and are hungry, then try the "Pizza Place - Trattoria II" on Main St - stone's throw east of the train. We stopped there yesterday - slices, garlic knots, pasta fagioli, chicken soup...everything was delicious, the place is clean and welcoming, and the guys behind the counter were delightful. Spend your money here.
