Biking in NYC winter
Hello,
My name is Kaushal, and I’m an undergraduate at New School University. I am currently collecting data on what motivates or deters New Yorkers from biking during winter. Your participation will help to identify opportunities to encourage biking in the winter seasons in New York City.
Please take 10 minutes to complete the survey: http://www.
Individual responses will not be evaluated. Individual results are confidential. Your identity will be protected and will not be reviewed.
Hope you have an awesome spring,

Bike Travel Case for Rent?
Rumor has it that the club has an airline bike traveling case that members can rent? If so, I was wondering if someone could provide me with the name and contact information of the person to talk to. I am heading to Europe for a week of cycling on April 21st. Thank you, Eden V.
West Point weekend date?
Has a date been chosen for the West Point weekend? July 4 falls on a Wednesday this year.
Teach New Yorkers how to ride for the first time!
Bike New York offers free classes to adults and kids teaching them how to ride for the first time, and how to ride safely! Looking for enthusiastic, experienced cyclists to give a few hours of their time to help teach these folks the joy of riding a bicycle. Share the bike love.

Suggestions for downtown-accessible hill repeats?
I live by Union Square and am looking to do hill repeats on some weekday mornings. Unfortunately, given the short amount of time I have at my disposal before work (about an hour), riding to and from Central Park is not an option. Any suggestions?

Lightweight, waterproof riding jacket
Hi All,
I'm going on a 10 day cycling trip of Sardinia in late May/early June and I'm seeking recommendations for a lightweight, packable, breathable, waterproof riding jacket. The weather should be (knock wood) generally lovely, but I want to be prepared for a sudden downpour, etc.
I saw this post from a few years back (http://nycc.org/message-board/packable-rain-shell/39031), but was wondering if anyone had some new suggestions. I tend to be very, very warm and so breathable is a high priority. I know that breathable tends to mesh poorly with waterproof, but are there any recommendations? Hot points tend to be under arm and forearms.
Thanks!
Just for owners of a NYCC Traffic Cone Bag (reversible cycling bag)
This post is only for NYCCers who own a Traffic Cone Bag with the NYCC scotchlite logo.
(respectful gap)
You're here because you were gifted (by NYCC committee) with one of these bags, or bought one. I have a favor to ask ...
1. How is the logo is holding up? I'm looking for someone who will let me use their professional heat press (know anyone?). So I'd like to know if it's still sticking. Send a picture to my email address below.
No wonder people at parties run away from me ...

Spring-n2-Cycling Weekend May 4-6 in upstate PA, Sponsored by Bicycle Club of Philadelphia
Dear Cyclists,
Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP) is hosting its annual Spring-n2-Cycling Weekend on May 4-6 (Friday through Sunday), in Danville, PA. Danville is a quaint town on the Susquehanna River, between the charming college towns of Bloomsburg and Lewisburg. The peaceful countryside between towns is ideal for cycling -- scenic roads, green landscapes, creeks, farms, and covered bridges.
2 sad long pieces in Sunday's Times re bicycling fatalties
p. 6 Intl News Section: Son of Brazil's richest man, driving $1,000,000 car, fatally strikes poor man who was riding his bike.
p. 11 Nephew of woman cyclist who was struck and killed by a truck in Greenpoint, Brooklyn relates emotional visits to accident site and flower-bedecked ghost bike.
There was no apparently definitive culpability in either case.
Ride Safely!
