Looking for a ride to the Berkshires!

Submitted by MMiller2 on Fri, 04/20/2012 - 2:13pm

Yes, certainly I could take the train up (and I will if things work out that way), but it would be so much more luxurious to arrive in style in a car for my first Berkshires voyage!

I live on the UWS, have flexible leaving times on Fri (and Mon) and I own a bike rack that holds 3 bikes. I'm staying in Sheffield. Anyone have an extra seat in their car?

Thanks!

Maureen

B SIG Armonk Ride: Earlier start due to the weather forecast

Submitted by WWright on Fri, 04/20/2012 - 12:52pm

The B SIG ride to Armonk tomorrow will start at 8:00, not 8:30 as previously stated.  All the weather forecasts inidicate rain starting at some point in the afternoon or evening.  It seems to be just a question of when it will rain, not if.

Everything else is the same:  we meet at the Ramble Shed.

See you there,

Wayne

Getting Luggage to Berkshires Weekend

Submitted by DHauss on Fri, 04/20/2012 - 10:22am

Hi Folks,

Thinking about doing this for the first time and need some pointers on how to get my minimal luggage to the B&B in Sheffield.  I will be taking Metro North and (I guess) cycling the 30 miles to Sheffield from Wassaic.

Can you back pack your luggage (e.g., is this a relatively flat ride)?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Dave

Hey guys, I'm about to embark on first ever loaded tour and it's gonna be a pretty big one.  I'm teaming up with a friend of mine who is a Joplin, Mo native and recently moved back there after 10 years in NYC.  We are riding to raise money to build storm shelters in Joplin and marking the anniversary of the Tornado that hit on 5/22/2011.  We are using adventure cycling's maps to go west starting in VA, but we aren't using them to go south for a couple of reasons.  1, we have to go really far out of the way to get to the start of the southern route since it loops around NYC and 2. we have fundraising events already setup in Philly and Newark De, so we MUST go through those cities.
