Glen Oaks to Orient Point Beach: Tips and Tricks.
So, I put together my own ride starting from my place in Queens and ending at Orient Point all in the north 'shore' of Long Island. It totals out to about a Century.
I was surprised to find that there were quite a few bike paths along the way, which makes me think that maybe some NYCC people have already done this ride. I have spent a total of zero hours scouting the route, which i'm sure i will regret, so i'm looking for any advice on the ride; recommended stops, good routes, really any experience at all.
Update on Kingsbridge Armory plans: Kingsbridge National Ice Center
There were hopes that the Kingsbridge Armory could house an indoor cycling track. Given that it was used for track racing in the 20's and 40's, and the popularity of cycling today, it seemed like a feasible idea, but was apparently shot down by the community. Instead, it may end up housing 9 hockey rinks.
Mark Messier, New York Rangers Legend, was present for the announcement last week.
More bicycle routes to be added to Google Maps

New Website Feature: Rider Waitlists
It is with great satisfaction to announce that the web team released the rider waitlist functionality last night. Upfront I want state that there are some rough edges, I hope to smooth them out in the coming weeks. More on that below.
What does that mean for you?
Ticketed in Central Park
I was ticketed today in Central Park for running a red light. It happened at 5:00 p.m. on the West Drive at 72nd St. in Central Park.
The cop issued only a park violation ticket, meaning no points on my driver's license. He was apologetic about it and said that the ticket would probably be thrown out or reduced to a nominal amount.
I thought that the lights were now regarded as being yellow. Is there any way of looking up the enforcement policies at any particular point in time?
AMGEN (creator/patent holder of EPO) Tour of California
Does anyone else find this to be ironic, at the least?
"This Tour is brought to you by... EPO!"
Rides still posted after they have happened
I will preface this post with the admission that user error lead me to discover this aspect of our Rides listing. Apparently rides stay posted through the 24 hour day that they are listed. Thus I was able to sign up for yesterday morning's ride yesterday night. When I went to the meetup spot this morning, no one was there to greet me, strangely. ;]
interesting article
I have not finished it. Thought it would make interesting conversation.

Anyone riding in The Seagull Century
Hello,
I am planning to ride the Seagull Century. I have heard great reviews about this ride and am looking for other riders who are planning to ride the Seagull Century. I am looking for transportation down there and coordinating with others on accomodations for the weekend October 5-7.

OK, we now have deranged people on this message board.
It may be time for another discussion about anonymity on this message board.
Non-members have legitimate reasons for posting here. For example, out-of-town visitors or sincere noobs looking for cycling information, or information about the club.
Anonymous posts by members may be appropriate too. For example, questions about embarrassing lubrication issues.
This short list is not intended to be exhaustive.
What we don't need is loons, irresponsible provocateurs, and other anonymous non-members on this board. We've seen plenty in the last two weeks.
Members are members. They can say what they want. We may not all agree, but we know who is speaking and where they are coming from.
