RIP Danny Lieberman. We will miss you.

Submitted by GGordon on Sat, 10/20/2012 - 6:31am

Found out this moring that Danny Lieberman passed away last night.

Danny got me started in club riding in '97. I showed up to the 5BBC Brooklyn Perimeter ride, had a great time, and was forever hooked on cycling.

Thank You Danny. We will miss you.

"It" used to be #1. This year "it" dropped to #2 (replaced, uh, by, umm, ahhh, my ZIP code). Where is this? Why, Alpine, NJ. As in above River Road. Who'd a thunk it?

I quote from Forbes: This is the fist time that a Big Apple neighborhood has topped our list. It pushed 2011's pricient ZIP code, Alpine, N.J. 07620 to No. 2. Alpine is a discreet New York City suburb where the median home price is $5.75 million, street addresses are regularly scrambled on GPS and residents include celebrities like Stevie Wonder and Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Henry Hudson Dr (aka River Road) - closed by the MS bike ride?

Submitted by GYang on Fri, 10/19/2012 - 2:18pm

Does anyone know if River Road will be open Sunday morning (the 21st) during the MS bike ride?

The MS rest stop at the Engelwood boat basin opens at 8:15 so I would guess River Road will be open until about 8 am. Anyone know for sure?

Tarrytown - Poughkeepsie (via Old Indian; Foliage Ride)

Submitted by RonR on Fri, 10/19/2012 - 10:16am

If you've missed one of the other foliage rides, are still looking for one to do this Saturday, and you can handle an A19-20 pace for ~75 miles, come join us for a ride to the Old Indian Ridge from Tarrytown Saturday morning. This listing went up this morning, so (obviously) you wouldn't have seen it as an option prior to today. The node can be found at:

NPR: Instead of Surgery, Man Pedals Off the Pounds

Great recent NPR story about a man's weight-loss efforts, and a cycling community's embrace of him:
