Why is it that we cannot upload images directly to the message board to illustrate our posts. Just about every other bulletin board on the web allows this but it seems on the NYCC everything has to be external links.. am I missing something ??

Tire liners / tube protectors for 700x23?

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Thu, 04/25/2013 - 7:24am

I was under the impression that people didn't use tire liners on typical road tires (around 700x23 or 700x25) simply because they were not really a viable product (either no one made them, or they'd never work well if they existed). But I saw this today:

Would this be a reasonable measure to take in avoiding road flats, or is this much better suited to fat tires for off-road use like CX and MTB?

Advice requested, received summons today (Edit: Dropped!)

Submitted by tim on Wed, 04/24/2013 - 8:37pm

Are there any lawyers here that can offer advice for a summons?  My friend and I received a pink slip with no fine amount and was requested by the officer to appear in court in June.

Thanks in advance.

Metro North and the Berkshires

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Wed, 04/24/2013 - 6:24pm

Heads up, everyone...if you were planning on riding up, the furthest north you can go is Southeast.  I believe it's 60+ miles to Sheffield from there, further to Great Barrington, and the b*tch of it is, one cannot take a "peak" train from GC or Harlem station.  Just alerting the masses, especially the "C" and slower "B" riders, in advance to make other plans.

Roommate wanted for Berkshires

Submitted by DSabbarese on Wed, 04/24/2013 - 5:11pm

I booked a two bedroom suite at the exclusive, Michelin rated (10 stars!) Wind in the Pines resort centrally located on Route 7 in Great Barrington. Even though the place is ridiculously priced @ $100 per night (3 nights/approx $150 each + taxes) I'd like a roommate. So I don't get lonely. (Even though that's unlikely as R Grossberg, P Morales & K Johnson are also at the W in the P & will probably keep me up all night long with their relentless partying)

Berkshires Weekend Lodging

Submitted by Trishaly on Tue, 04/23/2013 - 11:23am

Hi there,

Is there anyone else looking to share space for the Berkshires weekend?  A female and a C rider here.  According to the events page looks like most C rides will start in Great Barrington, but I’m open to any other areas. I was told Sheffield, Lee, Stockbridge and Lenox are all a reasonable distance. I'd love to stay at a small B&B, of the very few left for this weekend. You can reach me at [email protected].

Thanks!

Kissena Velodrome - problems with radio-controlled hobbyists?

Submitted by Batuwu Griekgriek on Tue, 04/23/2013 - 11:08am

Hi all,

While I do not use the velodrome much, as a cyclist and Queens resident I was very happy to see it restored some years back.

I've been alerted by members of the Queens Committee of Transportation Alternatives that there have been some confrontations and problems between cyclists using the velodrome and people using it for their radio-controlled cars, planes and whatnot.

Apparently the exchanges have become rather heated at times.  Has anyone else had such experiences?

Thanks.
