Potsdam, Germany Bike Advice

Submitted by nymultisport on Mon, 04/22/2013 - 9:06pm

We're visiting Berlin, Germany with grandchildren this summer, and plan a day trip--via rail--to Potsdam. Anyone have experience hooking-up with an English-speaking, guided, day tour bike operation (not Fat Tire Bikes or self-guided tours) at the Potsdam train station or environs?

Physical Therapist recommendation?

Submitted by DHudes on Mon, 04/22/2013 - 7:48pm

Anyone have experience with a physical therapist for cycling injuries? Specifically, I am recovering from a knee injury. I have a specific set of therapies prescribed by my orthopedic surgeon. I'm considering that possibly a therapist more into sports esp. cycling medicine might have a different, better, technique to accomplish the results.  Someone who is both a physical therapist and a cycling coach/trainer would seem ideal.  Since I live in Manhattan Upper West Side and work in downtown Brooklyn, said therapist would need to be reasonably reachable from these areas. That pretty much rules out eastern Brooklyn and Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island -- I can't really haul out to e.g. Melrose 2x/week.

Running in Central Park

Submitted by ERayvid on Mon, 04/22/2013 - 4:49pm

I know there is a lot of distain from cyclists for runners in Central Park.

But as a cyclist AND a runner, I wanted to say that there was a lot of love in Central Park this weekend from the running community for the tradgey up in Boston last week.

Since I'm a wh*re for traffic, here's a link to what Sunday morning looked like from my perspective.

North Brooklyn pizza tour

Submitted by TMantione on Mon, 04/22/2013 - 3:50am

Hello fellow NYCC's. Last week I had to cancel a scheduled North Brooklyn (free) pizza tour due to bad weather. As the touring season for my Brooklyn Bike Tours business is starting ,from time to time I will be posting here  for NYCC members to join me when a tour is less than full. This is a great way for mainly "C" (see) riders to explore and visit parts of Brooklyn and enjoy some free food samples as the tour makes stops at some of Brooklyn's best pizzerias ( for the Twilight Pizza Tour ) and delicacies ( for the desserts and sweets  tour) Also on occasions, ethnic food tours wil be in the schedule and many Brooklyn based cultural events will be included in the regurlaly scheduled tours.

Is it just me?

Has anyone else noticed that drivers this weekend seem to be more courteous than usual?  On Saturday when my STS group was waiting to make left turns drivers were more likely to stop and wave us through.  On narrow roads cars generally waited behind us patiently until it was actually safe for them to pass and fewer drivers were using their horns.  Is is possible that the events of the week have made people a little more considerate of others and willing to share what belongs to all of us?

Hi,

We will be doing free bike safety checks/ basic gear adjustments at the boat house from 8:30am to 9:30am this Sunday, April 21, for the C group ride going out with Ken W.  Anyone, A, B, C etc is welcome to bring their bike over.

Cheers!

Shawn

C SIG changes today

Group 4 is on today, but groups 1-3 are postponed to tomorrow. We are going to different locations and there is no place indoors to eat lunch in Pascack Park. A picnic in the rain does not seem like anybody's idea of a good time. Leaders will email you with other details for tomorrow.
